Proficiency effecting damage never made much since to me, how does me being familure with the weapon affect how much damage each shot does???
I would rather it affect reload speed (minor bonus on top of current reload bonus) and dispersion.
Now for dispersion it would not affect min and max dispersion but the increase and decrease up to the min and max amount already in place for the gun. Also decreasing the dispersion penalty for standing, walking, strafing, and jumping.
This would allow high damage application dependent on player skill. With this a "a" player without profecency could apply as much damage as a "c" player with lvl 5 profecency.

Proficiency can represent knowing where your weapon can deal the most damage to a target. More of a stretch, but it could also represent the user making minor customizations to their preferred weapon.
Anyway, no, I'll take the damage bonus to dispersion, reload speed, etc.
Also, this isn't features and ideas.

We already have a skill that reduces dispersion called Sharpshooter. That, and having a second reload bonus would invalidate the Commando's role bonus.
Not to mention that a lot of weapons require the +15% damage to be reliable.

Clearly, "Proficiency" applies to all of the sub skills, Rapid Reload could be familiarity, sharpshooter a knowledge of travel trajectory for rounds, and ammo capacity a customised magazine, as Ripley suggested. It'd be better to remove the other three altogether, and combine all into the Proficiency skill, lowering it's reqs, but raising it's skill multiplier.

If it gets changed I want my sp back for all rifles. You don't change it like that wtf? Reload speed? Not needed for rifles nty.

Oh yeah if it does get changed, there should definitely be an sp reimbursement, and isk for the skillbooks you'd no longer need. I doubt it will change anyway, I don't have Prof on any weapon yet....keep getting distracted by different weapons.
