I ran the Caldari Assault two ways. I ran it the way my Caldari friends and forum goers told me to run it and I ran it the way the guys in Gallente FW and my Minmatar friends told me to run it. Both are for an advanced Caldari Assault.
-Caldari/Forum Recommendation: 1X Complex Shield extender 2X Enhanced Shield extenders 1X Enhanced Recharger
2X Shield Regulators
Advanced RR Standard MagSec SMG M1 Locus Grenade Standard Nanohive
-Gallente/Minmatar Recommendation 2X Complex Damage Modifers 2X Advanced Precision Enhancers
2X Enhanced Range Extenders
Duvolle AR Standard Nova Knives
C-7 Flux Grenades Standard Nanohives
After spending a good 20+ games on each fit, I have something to say. -The Gallente/Minmatar class worked A LOT better. With the Caldari/Forum reccomendation I struggled to pull off a 2KD most games and struggled to fight off against most players at all ranges. Even at long ranges I tended to melted by Scrambler Rifle fire, Laser Rifles and Tactical AR's. CQC was harder then using a Minmatar Scout with no modules. It seems like there is a heavy in every hallway and a scout in every corner. Most of my kills were either lucky kills where we both had sub 20 armor left or I stole someone's kill from long range. I rarely had fights I dominated (outside of militia scrubs who die to a passing breeze).
-The Gallente/Minmatar class was a lot more practical. I only had the base HP on my suit but I found this was not an issue since I was able to detect my oponents way before we met, which meant I was able to get in advantageous positions to reduce the target's visibility on me while maximizing my view on them. By having a very high DPS primary weapon I was able to cleave through logis and subsequently the heavies they were supporting all in one magazine. Militia suits also fell fast allowing me to focus on more dangerous targets. Scouts also became a non issue. My largest amount of deaths in this suit came from vehicles.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the results derived from these first hand experiences.

EWAR > Recharging proto damage mod AR > advanced RR
Doesn't surprise me at all.
I've never really liked shield recharging suits of any flavor -- I've always found stacking HP (often with a damage mod or two) more effective with my aggressive playstyle. YMMV. |

Playstyles, playstyles, play styles, pl ays ty l es....
I fit my Caldari Assault similar to the Caldari/Forum recommendation way, and I find myself managing a 4+ KDR in competitive matches where Scotty does not engage sexually with the pooch (and I suck at the game). Main difference, though, is that I use one reactive plate for some extra buffer and a Bolt Pistol, 'cause the magsec is trash.
Fit for the way you play.

I took notice of your white suit tonight. Best way to play CAL, after they made the RR a POS, is to find the redline and then take two steps backwards and **** yourself; because it sucks, it's slow, low movement speed, low stam and stam low regen.
The min assault is in a different league.
If you want to John Woo, with two complex dam mods, shield charger, shield energzer, Damps.-with two SMGs--totally impractical but a hoot.

It's telling you to try harder.
I run a very simple fit, and I am just fine. I stay out of CQC and stay at my range. (But ScR seems to be a problems, as it dominates all ranges.) Lasers hurt, yes, but so does my BP.
Anyway, maybe it just isn't your playstyle.

Well if your running proto rifle and two complex damage mods> ADV rifle no damage mods.
The part that made me laugh/cry was seeing the second fit as a sort of tanked minmatar scout. (nova knives? really?)
my ADV caldari assault fit
4 extenders
ADV RR Magsec
M8
compact hive
2 damps
Hit them hard, hit them first, hit them from range, and have enough tank to get away or fight any CQC suprises.
Its not my go to assault fit, nowadays its mostly the Amarr Assault w/ Scrambler or my Min Assult, but it does work very well for pegging people at long range/ flanking.
Redline for Thee, but no Redline for Me.

The important thing to note is : the Cal Assault is more effective when fit as a Gal/Min I can agree with this, as running my Ck.0 quite often you see a range of fits.
- DMG mods (5 highs so theres room for 2) - Biotics - Dual tank - Shield tank
^ They are the most common. In a pub stomp the shield tank is epic
Everywhere else not so much, good regen means nothing without a chance to use it The Caldari Assault needs better regen delays and recharges before Shields will be the best fit AR buffs along with ScR alpha dmg make a Shield fit suicide, as much as I hate Armour Ck.0s I'm not surprised |

That little ewar you got on this fit doesn't give you any big advantages.
People with scanners will scan better, also with that little hp on assault you're done after few shoots. Cal scout [more hp/better ewar than those kind of fits] is better at that job [lite ewar assault].

i only use my C-II RR setup if i'm going mid-long range with it. caldari are long range and so even though there is the ARR they are better at ranges, i'll sit about 60m and just get into a nice ledge or building and plough rounds into them best i can. personally i think the scoped kick is a bit too much for a gun thats supposed to specialize in long range engagements, i even proposed that teh caldari assault bonus mirror that of the gallente and have it as a 5% reduction to Rail weapons scoped kick and dispersion, it also seperates it more from the commando as the two suits are far too similar a role. have the commando as the run n gun ARR user and the assault specialize in the RR
Never argue with an idiot. they bring you down to their level and beat you through experience

This I really don't understand why people keep trying to make ewar assaults, but I won't complain just makes em easier to kill. Wall hacks don't matter if there's rarely a wall between us my friend... We are assault suits... not scouts. |

I'll take a damage mod or a kincat any day over ewar if I won't simply go for more e/hp or regen/rep. I mean hell one decent active scanner that someone is carrying on your team ruins all the Ewar assaults. EWAR has always been usable on Assaults, people just don't try.
