odd We don't have to. Well... at least for us hard-mode Minscout veterans. To us, speed is our only tank. Id love to be a try hard mInscout vet someday but speed tanking is to hard for me to get around without dieing
A few things to bear in mind.
1. Passive scans may allow you to see through man-made structures, but they don't work through rocks. The terrain seems to create some kind of interference completely blocks off the passive scans. I use this to my advantage which is why I often flank with the terrain as cover. Every mound, every hill, every ridge is something I use to get around someone without their passive scans picking me up until I'm already on top of them with charged nova knives. But remember this works against your passive scans as well.
2. Check every other corner before you run around it. You might not know who is around the corner.
3. The ZN-28 Nova Knives and the SMG are a good combo for starters. In fact, this is something I still use to this day as it worked out pretty well for me.
4. Do not under any circumstance engage shotgunners unless you have the jump on them first and you're sure you can kill them on the first strike. If you have no choice but to confront them, swap to the SMG and keep your distance.
5. Focus on any stragglers you find. They are often alone which makes it easier to deal with them. Don't forget point #1.
6. If you go in balls deep into the fire, make sure you have the following conditions set. A) Pure, unadulterated speed, B) pure damage, and C) that the area provides the perfect cover for flanking and ambushing.
7. If you approach a target and suddenly they go beyond your field of view, don't panic. While keeping an eye on your minimap, run a complete circle or figure-eight pattern around your target to confuse them or keep them on their toes. Randomly backstepping and instantly changing direction in an unpredictable pattern makes it harder on your enemy to hit you. Don't rely too much on strafing.
8. If you suspect you've been spotted, run away.
9. Always carry flux grenades. You'll need them to check for any remote explosives planted on the objectives. They're also handy for avoiding friendly fire in FW and you can throw them on your enemy to weaken their shields which increases your chances for a successful strike.
10. Last, but most importantly, set a minimum budget. It's going to be expensive for you so it's important that you learn to balance your wallet. Dedicate at least one day of the week to grinding ambush for ISK.
