I think going Caldari Assault because you want to shield tank is akin to wanting to drive a '77 Pinto because you want to drive a car. That is just my opinion though; whenever I am using my Prototype Assault, I just find myself thinking "My Scout does the same thing this does but better."

But don't stack armor plates on it. It's just a waste of ISKs/time. Caldari Loyalist Markiplier fan. Got 6815 WP only on wrecking tanks with Ion Cannon.

I appreciate the quick reload time. Just make sure that you give your shields time to regenerate fully when you need to. Always consider play style chanages when speccing into a new skill. With my Cal Assault, I try to ensure that I'm always near cover and attack over a long distance. With my lol fit, I freely walk around dropping people at 15 - 50 meters with my dual BP. Anything above requires all skills in shields at 5 if you want to get the most out of the role.

That is because you are playing a scout role, no wonder why it fails when you use your assault suit. If everyone was running scouts on each team and flanking it would be pure chaos and no one would concur any territory. You should use the assault as frontline, slower with more hp to concur and defend the territory. Use your scout to flank to pick off squishy targets and opponent scouts. Someone has to be the assault role, move in, take the blunt of the incoming fire, and distract the enemy team while the scout flanks and gets the kills. Continue play your scout flanking role you are good at but please appreciate the rest of your team for keeping the opponent team occupied or your would not have anyone to flank. Assaults with a descent ehp tank is needed to keep the ground while the scouts are taking out the enemy clones. I love the assault fit and its role on the battlefield. It is funny standing with 2-3 scouts just waiting for me to run in and take the fire, while they spread out and gets the kills.

Personally, I've been so accustomed to shield tanking that armor tanking feels weird to me. That being said, I can't see much reason to go back to Cal Assault myself. Every now and again I catch myself thinking about how I could eek out a little more EHP out of my suit, but the Min Assault is just an over all better suit than the Caldari. And you get a much more useful bonus. Skill first into Extenders and Rechergers. Then if you can get the regulators too! I like running 2 Shield Ext 2 Shield Energizrs (for 88ish Shield recharge rate per sec) 1 Cx Damage mod 1 Cx reactive plate 2 cx Shield regulators. Hit and RUN baby. (you can also change the Damage mod for ANOTHER shield ext n.n ) I must note however, that it really depends on the weapon you use, the fit you should use. This on i use is like the multi prupose one. If im camping a roof i go with 2 shield energizers + 1 cx shield recharger + 2 shield Ext, 1 shield regulator a complex armor plate and a Complex reactive plate. This lets me peek and shoot and as soon as i get damaged (shields out) i take cover, wait for a FEW seconds and peep again. Around 105 Shield recharge rate per sec. If you will use it for Close Quarters go with more shield buffer: 4 shield Extenders 1 Shield Energizer 1 Shield Regulator And you have 2 lows left to choose if you want to Dampen, Kin Cat or Armor tank it.
