This will be a reporting of an existing bug, as well as a new one concerning Orbital Support.
Mercenary names not being shown when requests are giving to Orbiting EVE Pilots.
I was informed that this has been floating around for some time and it makes it very difficult for Orbital Pilots to give support in FW and PC matches as they sometimes are unsure who has called what strike in. Right now, only the portrait with the Race of the requester is shown.
However, with the arrival of 1.10, more concerning bugs have surfaced.
Warbarge Strikes are now available in Faction Warfare matches.
EVE Pilots giving Orbital Support for FW also are no longer given LP or Killmails for their efforts.
Pretty straight forward, but I can't help wondering if this was intended. 
After talking to many pilots though, because of this change, FW pilots have pretty much evaporated as you no longer need any form of EVE support now whatsoever, and even if you do, there are no rewards for helping your said faction.
EDIT: Added link with a convo I had with a pilot when it was first discovered for us.

I can confirm that non-EVE strikes are available in FW.
MAG + Dust cb vet, an alt of Velvet Overkill & Agent Overkill AKA Enkouyami (Main PSN).

Mercenary names are shown but are rarely the right name. Generally it is only correct on your first drop of the day.
Mercenary corporations seem to be sown correctly making it still possible to drop for a specific person.
Normal orbitals being added to FW have certainly destroyed delivery of Eve support from pilots for sure. This is due to the fact that players are now use to saving orbitals like in pubs. What this does is horribly offsets the pilots pay as he can sit there for a whole battle risking his ass and never drop a single orbital.
Obviously I can not speak for CCP but I feel like the addition of normal OBs was a huge bug with the new deployment and needs to be fixed immediately before the link becomes 100% obsolete.

The name not showing up isn't really that big of a deal most of the time u can go by race, never have problems getting lp from Ob I think your pilot isn't doing something wrong been getting tons of lp glad there's not a bunch of pilots out there |

Or u could make an eve/dust account and drop for your self if the scrub blueberry won't drops them |

When you send the request your proper corp tag is shown. He just needs to click on your name while the timer is counting down so that he knows what corp tag to look for.
Whoever told you to go by race seriously trolled you.
