With the lack of items related to what I play, spending that much money on keys is not something that's even to think of. If I had a better chance at actually getting items I use... maybe.

theres far more boxes then there is potential revenue from them, handing them out like candy isnt helping.
i say it again, boxes and keys should be swapped and then nobody would care as all they would have are keys and boxes would feel ******* magical
i do however think that there is more on the way that would justify this extreme droprate.

It's not like opening the boxes is forced upon you. After opening two with hacked keys it was pretty obvious the contents aren't worth spending aurum on but at the same time it's fun to get free stuff every now and then.
on a more general note - I think ccp are missing a trick somewhere. I'm not normally a big spender in this sort of pay as you go system but when it comes to dust I'm virtually begging the game to take my money - but don't see anything other than boosters that feels right. I'd go up to -ú25 for an advance blueprint however...

You couldn't do this in real life, either the temptation would be too much or the annoyance at not being able to

It's a psychological thing, and pretty scummy, don't try to defend it.

Then what is the point of them? Even without going into the more debatable aspects of these boxes, the standard of items inside is much too low and we clearly, clearly, clearly get way too many of them.
No one in their right mind is going to spend much on these things. I would be more tempted if they were actually rare and actually had valuable items inside. As it is - its a form of extreme gambling.
Even from a business perspective it makes no sense to not encourage people to buy keys with the temptation of actual valuable loot inside.
10-20 + boxes a day of crap with only say 1 or 2 that might have anything worthwhile in - why!? It makes no sense.

Well the drop rate is a bit extreme, but we do have 12 days of Dust coming soon so ... maybe a butt load of keys?

i worked it out and the current drop rate of boxes i'm getting you're looking more like -ú100 per week to open them all lol
i've got almost 350 boxes so far, that was without playing for 3 days too. some corp mates are close to 500 atm
