Trying to get some ideas here.. I want to try a cal scout. Never been one to mess with light frames too much but I want to try.. I'm used to medi frames that are slow and have armor or fast and squishy.. So I'm going light with shields. Just trying to see what people think about the suit, and what kind of weapons, equipment, and modules do u like and how do you use it? Try to keep it in the scout C/1 range, I'm not gonna drive straight into proto just yet.. No shotguns plz haha |

Oh yes... I remember my first taste with the Caldari scout....
When I first specced into it I had this fit at ADV:
Enhanced Shiels Extender x2
Advanced Precision Module x1
Advanced Dampener x1
Enhanced KinCat x1
ADV Tactical AR
'Toxin' SMG
STD Flux Grenade
ADV Flux Uplink/Scanner/ STD remotes (this slot is preference-based)
STD/ADV Cloak (whatever cloak you can fit, if not, another equipment of your choosing).
I have fitting optimization skills, so if you're over CPU/PG, sorry.
But I had this for a while before I took it proto.

I run my C/1 with:
Bolt Pistol (nuking armour is fun)
ZN nova knives (need I say more?)
2 complex shield extenders
precision enhancer
2 damps (being seen on TacNet is bad)
Compact Nanohive (Bolt Pistol is hungry)
Active Scanner (directional indicators are nice to have)
Ultimately, I hit and run. Pop out, and nuke somebody with my BP at range. Headshots are satisfying as well. Then, I knife whenever possible (which, given the nerfs, makes knifing more difficult and more frustrating). Overall, going with alpha weapons is a safe bet, as the engagement window with automatic rifles is too long for having such low HP, in my experience at least.

It is... I've used it in PC with devastating effect.
With max skills (lvl 5 dampening), scouts start at 31 dB. Correct me if I am wrong since I'm away from home, thus I cannot verify.
And a proto damp puts a Caldari scout at 20 dB.
Two proto damps put you at 16 dB (under everything but pro Gallente logi with Duvolle Focus Scanner)
A proto cloak puts you at 14/15 dB.
Don't know how much an ADV damp gets you... I think it was 27 dB. Still pretty low except a Gallente logi with an Adv scanner could get you.
As long as you use the clock defensively, you should be okay. You don't want to be caught in the open as a scout.

So as bad as I wouldn't want to run a shotty, would you say shotgun and bolt pistol would be more effective? I mean at least the SG does damage incase you aren't arms length? |

Yup. With the way things currently are, I'd say the SG is a better bet than knives. NKs don't give you any wiggle room, and the changes to scanning make knifing much more risky than they were in the past.
Ultimately, you ought to run what you'd think would be more enjoyable or otherwise preferable, shotgun or knives. Combat effectiveness is not, nor should be, the be-all, end-all.

I already got the scout to level 5 today because I'm determined to use one.. Haven't even made one single load out though, had to go to work before I had a chance.. So went straight from never running a scout to being able to run a good one (if infighter it out) haha |

ADV PLC & NK aren't bad. But you have to be deadly accurate.
Before I specced into them, I got 15 militia versions of them and put them on a Caldari militia light frame.
I went to town on skirmish and those 15 suits lasted me the night.
Managed to kill 2 tanks, 1 ADS, & 4 transport Dropships the same night.

KN look fun, but I would prolly rage out from dying because I have never used them and this seems like a bad time to start trying.. (I have no idea why my knives are at lv.3, I have never used them.. I have Ben playing a logi forever (since before you got points for reps and standing people up O.o) so it's time to change it up.. Veeeeeeeery rarely I will use my bpo dragonfly scout with the blueprint shogun |

If your going to run cal scout then focus on ewar speed and a mix of ranged (rail rifle ) and cqc combat (knives bolt pistol mag sec ) it also helps to get your shield skills to a decent level .

I never really messed with the rail rifles.. Prof 5 in AR and CR tho.. And he's all my core skills, armor, shields, biotics ect are all level 5.. Prof 5 magsec and as well (never could hit anything with the bolt pistol :/ ) |

Have you seen how I (admittedly with mixed results.... ) go crazy with the PLC scout. Do something fun, do something that appeals to you.

I haven't, but I can imagine haha. I went HAM on some fools when I got off work this morning.. Did well with the ADV.. So I said screw it, commence protstomp. Funniest thing to happen today
Me: *scans 3 targets standing next to each other on the other side of small building, peeks around said building when they aren't facing me and tears into shields with burst proto AR*
Them: *gives "chase" to brett*
Me: *runs opposite direction around small building until behind them, pulls out core flaylock pistol.. Empties clip into dat ass. Sees heavy with a sliver of health left*
Heavy: *turns around to see why his friends went flying through the air*
Me: *runs the remaining ten feet and pistol whips HMG-wielding deadberry heavy in the noggin a few times*

close/med/far ewar has significantly impacted the effective range. Check your 90 m claim.
