assaults are almost identical to normal medium suits aside from the skills. the only thing logistics has in common with those medium suits is the character model. everything else is different. commandos and scouts have more logistical use than the medium basic suits do to a logistics.
the logistics role would be better served with its own basic suit to allow new and old players alike the same choice scouts, assaults and heavys have which is to use cheap basic suits or expensive role suits

no because that defeats the purpose. they are meant to be cheap unskilled versions of assaults. giving them an extra equipment makes them more logi but less assault. how do you balance that. no they need to be separate.
like the mediums scale with assaults but without the bonus so should there be a medium suit that scales in line with logistics

Do you understand suit specializations? Because you seem like you don't.
Ideally, Basic frames should be unspecialized suits, and speicailized suits(like assaults and logis) would give up some things in exchange for others. So a Basic Medium should be a middle ground between Assaults and logis, but not as good at either of their roles. This is called horizontal progression, a commonplace in PVP games, especially shooters.

To make that medium viable for both roles, baring I mind logistics and assault have nothing in common the suit would have to be balance in a way that will make it useless to both. I do not use medium basics for logi because they are useless for the task. I'm certainly not going to use one with less of everything for 1 extra slot.
How do you plan on getting enough pg/cpu for the logi aspect without letting assaults over power it. How do you plan on factoring I enough bandwidth without letting assault minded players using it to allow them to spam.how do you plan on factoring in ehp and speed without making a slayer logi type suit.
So the answer is no, a simple extra equipment is a stupid idea. Look what it did to the scout. Assault scouts out performing assaults. Assaults and logistics shouldn't even be sharing the same skill tree imo. The scout and the assault have far more in common that assault and logistics ever have

Where did you see that stated? I'm curious to see how you came to that conclusion.

A Logisitcs Cruiser like the Guardian and the Combat Navy Augoror share the same model and different skills....
If logi suits all had bonuses to rep/shield transportation range in addition to their normal racial equipment bonuses and rate they would all do their job much better.

Giving basic mediums a 2nd equipment slot makes so much freaking sense it hurts.
Skilling into the assault means you lose the extra slot but gain assault skills(able to fit more/better mods and weapons and weapon bonuses)
Skilling into Logi means you gain more equipment slots but lose a sidearm(except Amarr) you also get fitting bonuses to fit better equipment and actual Logi bonuses.

ok then but the basic loses the sidearm to bring it back in balance. keep the same stats as current to compare it with assaults. while losing the side and gaining an extra equipment. this means assaults gain a side and lose an equipment. logis gain equipment but lose the stats that compare it with assaults.
i think thats an acceptable compromise. assaults = more damage and logis = more equipment. this would be the only way to allow the cpu/pg while not allowing 1 to be more beast than the other.

Have the basic frame lose a non-tank slot, and gain an equipment.
Make amarr/cal logis gain an equipment leading to a 3/3/4 progression.
Optional: Keep amarr slot count as is(1 less than assault), keep sidearm, callogi loses TWO slots, gains sidearm.
Final slot layouts of Callogi would be L/S/G with 4 highs 3 lows, or 5 highs 2 lows. Your choice callogis.

It's ridiculous that a new player gets a better Logi introduction with the light frame than with the medium. It's completely unintuitive and frustrating.
An experienced player will obviously invest his starting SP into the appropriate role, but a new player won't know that.
Also, I'd love for basics to be cheaper than specialized suits. To give them actual purpose, besides being a stepping stone on the way to proper gameplay. |
