Do you mean the rail rifle or rail turret?.
They both suck but the ion pistol is god mode.

Rail turrets are great for vehicle warfare; they're the best weapon to use against dropships due to their range/firing speed and are also great for taking out tanks at a distance. Without splash damage, however, they are difficult to use against infantry. You'd be wise to pair up a small blaster turret on your tank so that you or a second person can focus on swarmers/forgers/etc.

Nope, too many glitches.
Given how you can use an NOS module to figuratively warp to an enemy, you're better off using the 80GJ Blaster. It's also much more effective against Shields, and can prevent them from boosting to regain HP.

I dunno if this is too late but I HIGHLY suggest you use Militia Tanks before skilling into Vehicles. It is a very different play style and can eat quite a bit of SP so I find it best to get a hand of it with Militia first. Play with them for a few days. If you like the feel, get HAV Operation to 1. That gives you access to the Gunnlogi and the Madrugar. Continue to use Militia Turrets and work on getting your Armor or Shield skills up as they are generally more useful IMO. Better Railguns are only better against enemy vehicles and defense scales a little bit better in the early game than offense. Against Infantry, having a Prototype Railgun or Blaster doesn't help you if Swarm Launchers are killing you faster than you can react because your defense modules are bunk.
The Gunnlogi is probably the best tank to use because it has so much easier of a time fitting stuff compared to the CPU starved Madrugar. Take it slow! Unlike Dropsuits, there is little overlap in vehicle skills across other roles. Better vehicle skills helps in, well, vehicles; ADS and Tanks mostly. If you were to dump a bunch of points into Scrambler Rifle as an Assault and suddenly decided you wanted to be a Scout, that Scrambler Rifle can transfer over fine. 5 million in Turret operations is only useful if you are in a Tank really.
In my opinion, use Militia Tanks while you slowly build up a decent Dropsuit game before going straight into vehicles. This is especially true considering the 'supposedly upcoming' vehicle changes.

they have SOOOO many bugs that have exsisted since uprising 1.0 that nobody has ever fixed.
like misfires were you shoot but nothing happens except heat buildup misfires where nothing happens at all misfires where you cant shop your railgun from shooting misfires where your projectile goes THROUGH objects to hit the things behind them (doing damage laughably enough) reload errors where you reload but have nothing in your clip reload errors where you cant stop reloading
theres actually more than this.... but im already angry again so im stopping.

idk how theyve changed in recent months but a basic railgun on a methana was god mode back in 1.7 for griefing the enemies homepoints in domination. id avoid the middle of the map and go straight to their side and pick stragglers off who were on foot.
easy 15-20kills with no deaths before you head off to the objective.

The glitches sure can be infuriating, but I consider Blaster tanks to be free WP for a reason... Because I use a Rail.
Blasters are good for close range but they have a fatal flaw of "locking" you into a short engagement range which will get you distracted, and killed. Good for hunting Gunnies in certain maps, or mopping up infantry, but the rail is rediculously effective if you keep 200+ meters from any target, you can OHK any AV infantry at that range with ease and nail blaster tanks into submission before they get to you, or leave them a flaming wreck if they do manage to close, and best of all the range allows you to be near-invincible due to taking advantage of cover whenever you want.
Never fear a forge gun or swarms again, choose Large Rails, they reward skill far more then blasters do.

See you fckweasel, this right here is why no body takes you seriously. You bashed atiim for making a fairly logical, unbiased assement of the situation. Not just once, but twice. Quoting the same passage.
