Wasn't it an error and was supposed to stay for one month after 1.9 because of 30 days boosters?
Just a question, i may have missed something.

The 750k SP cap was implemented in the spirit that if was too much they would lower it after 30 days.
CCP never lowered it so I guess the 750k SP cap is here to stay.
My advice to you, playa...

It should be lowered to about 400k. If someone can reach the 750k cap with 3 omega boosters they are getting 3 million SP a week. While it may not happen frequently, I believe its too high. |

It was a miscommunication due to Rattati leaving his brain in the car for a few days. Rattati brought up Triple Stacking boosters and the CPM went "okay, that's fine." Rattati, thinking that boosters only gave SP faster, thought "Because of the Triple Stacking Boosters, let's increase the cap to 750k." The CPM went "that seems fair." Of course, Rattati was mistaken how boosters worked. Instead of increasing SP gains from 190,400 to 750,000 and no more, he increased SP from 190,400 (285,600 if one booster) to 750,000 (1,875,000 with three boosters).
Considering that people jumped on the new number with triple 30 day boosters *waves* it would be a massive d**k move to say "oops, it doesn't work like that. I made a mistake. Sorry." and screw over all those that bought into the game. So they set it up as "the number can stay for at least 30 days. We reserve the right to change it later with one weeks notice." The CPM believes that 750k a week is acceptable but most of them have a problem with Triple Stacking Boosters and post combat boosters.
I personally believe that Boosters will change to increasing the rate at which you cap but not allowing you to gain over that cap, as Rattati thought it worked. This allows people to get an advantage in effort required by spending money rather than just getting 'more better.' The grinder can grind it, the vet can ignore it because they already have everything they need/want, the new player can grind it or spend some money to do it a little bit faster, and the vet that needs to push for something can grind it or spend some money to do it a little bit faster. However, everyone is probably so stuck on the needle that is 1.875 million SP a week that it is unlikely to change without a riot.
Though I would not be surprised if Legion, assuming "it ever becomes a thing", would work in this manner.

750k per week seems awful high.
Doesn't really affect me, personally, much as I'm north of 60m SP and I don't find the need to grind it out every week.
But if I did, 750k seems awful high to me. |

Yeah, if triple stacking does stay I'd much rather boosters changed to work like this (then I'd never have to buy any ever again ), but I don't see that ever happening since people will QQ (quite rightly so) that they purchased 'X' boosters on the understanding that they would gain extra SP from them and thus want to be refunded.

Way back when the game was in early stages I suggested that characters of different SP levels should have different caps (the higher the lifetime SP the lower the cap) to allow noobs to get to a competitive level a little easier and preventing the gap between vet and noob increasing too much. This was when player retention was terrible and no newbros ever stayed around to give the game a chance, so I saw this as a way to help the playerbase (although obviously not an ideal solution).
I wonder how many would advocate this now? I don't think it is really necessary though, as said, vets don't need to cap nowadays and there is plenty available SP for newbros to level up skills fairly quickly.

Rattati made it very clear "We reserve the right to change it with one weeks notice" so the complaints would be written of by smug asshats. In truth, an announcement that they are changing in one month would be enough to again stem the complaints.
Who knows? Hopefully the devs and CPM know because someone sure as hell better...

Only problem I see is the way people are illegally boosting so they can milk the cap without actually playing. Grinds my gears when I see stupid numbers at the top of the scoreboard. How DARE those people not have fun!

I appreciate that this high cap grants new players opportunity to catch up faster (which is good). Though I find the 750k cap a psychological hindrance to long play and use of boosters.
Before the 750k cap, if I knew I had a few days off in a row I might slap on a 3-day active booster and grind toward an attainable goal. Booster or no booster, I'd pretty much always find time to hit the weekly cap. But 750k is simply too much playtime. Can't say I care to even try to cap now, so I end up playing less. And I detest leaving money on the table, so the new cap has left me disinclined to use active boosters. |
