Just saw this on dotlan and thought holy crap the level of lag coming from that alliance must be insane.

It certainly wont be a 'smart deploy' if you come up against these lag monsters.

They are monsters of the lag for sure! I have been in games with these Latino corps that reduce my fibre optic broadband to 1990`s dial-up levels of sadness. (That's how it feels sometimes anyway)

Eh I guess its more for the EVE crowd, but that website has tons of information on there. That link shows you all of the current corporations currently in that alliance.

By defining lag of the opponents uplink speeds can I then blame most other players for causing me lag since I'm on gigabit myself?

All I can say is when I play with known euros on the euro server the game is 99% stable and smoothish (by dust standards), no teleporting or rubber banding or anything of that sort.
Now when I start seeing these other American corps quite often (not always of course) but quite often lag , rubber-banding and other anomalous effects come into play. There is a correlation if only from anecdotal evidence.

Sounds like I too should start taking note when stuff is rubberbanding. Perhaps there is a common denominator in this that I never thought of.

Being a member of one of the aforementioned corps I rarely experience lag and as a matter of fact we complain about other corps causing lag. I don't think the problem is necessarily on our end. |

One thing for sure is that Latino corps get a lot of attention on this subject.

Without knowing exactly what countries these players are in it is hard to relate to internet speed statistics. One thing that is certain for me is that generally when I get lag there is at minimum 2 people in the match with spanish names. I also get lag from time to time when against a full squad of certain corps. |

What server do you play on? I use the american server almost exclusively and from my memory it seems much of the time i have latino mercs (when obvious by name) in the match.

Automatic (im guessing that puts me on US server since I am east coast US)
50/25 connection hardwire PS3 to repeater, an SSD in my system, and deleted / reinstalled on the last update.
The really funny thing is when I am in FW, which is about 90% of the time, I get no lag or skips even when everyone else is complaining about it. The worst thing I get is a small reduction in frame rate. |

I have first hand experience with it. A couple months back I hit my bandwidth cap and got throttled; for the rest of that month I was a god that could deflect peoples aim. There's a reason people with a high ping get kicked from real competitive games.

That's the thing, the one causing it doesn't experience it. It's the people with a better that get close to them that experiences it.

interesting. I am obviously not read-up on this so i appreciate the constructive info.
I hear these claims of regional lagging often and myself being ignorant on the subject dont want to jump on a pitchfork bandwagon without knowing the data.
other than installing a ssd i have done everything to my knowledge to improve my games performance. I have had little results.
edit for disclosure: i am in the U.S. playing almost exclusively on american servers. |
