What can I say, Gem Cutter was a gem. I remember skilling into heavy in Chromosome and being on the 3 point map. I went 2-16. lol. I kept yelling, wtf! What is a Thale?! lol. My head keeps exploding. I thought someone had hacked the game. Never ran into him again after that match. But roughly 5,000 matches later...I still remember him. |

People can name a good sniper here or there.
Tons of people can sniper in pubs well..
But you put them in PC? and they where never in area's that helped the team... OR the added pressure of watching friends die and holding the point all upto that sniper would add to much pressure and cause them to fail under pressure.
Gem Cutter is the only PC sniper that would make entire PC corporations change their strategy around him. He was a force in PC. On the right maps he would solo defend two objectives..
I have not seen one individual Mercenary be worth as much as Gum Cutter was in PC. 1 guy could hold down 1-2 points solo. |

And if I'm not mistaken, he is the reason why they put walls around the objective points. That's when you know your a bada**, when CCP has to change the game around you. lol. |

:/ you know, back in codex and around there I really never saw why he was so lauded as a sniper? I mean yeah, he could put up some decent numbers if you let him, but whenever I counter sniped him I never had a problem keeping him down to blueberry levels of kills. He had like 2-3 positions per side of map where he'd try to snipe from, he was totally predictable. Move off to the side of an objective, line up a shot, and take him out. Move to the next objective and do it again.
Least Sleepy Zan moved around the map.

Nod > Gem. When we were in CrimeWave together, with both of them in squad, it was insane.
I am here to ask you one question, and one question only: EXPLOSIONS?

Guys like WhataguyTTU on Forge could hold down an entire city socket before active scanners and FGs were nerfed.

Forge Guns are still the best weapon on the battlefield though. Ishukone Forge, pro. 5, 4 rounds to a clip. psst. I sit there and one shot heavies. No better feeling in the world of Dust. Just gotta get the feel for it. I'm surprised I don't see more people running around with Forge Guns. |

Maybe because running around with a forgegun nowadays lets any scrub with a rifle gank you? |

*came in to say Gem Cutter*
*left knowing dust knows what's up*
Yeah, he was the best. Raxis lannister was a good sniper too.
But Gem was the best, I snuck up and killed him once...once...ok maybe twice.

Can confirm Gem Cutter holding objectives by himself with a Thale in PC.
Everyone must remember this was in the days when snipers mattered and were deadly. The Thale was also a OHK at the time. I will say Gem Cutter and Sleepy Zan where the best. Gem Cutter was more a positional sniper while Sleepy Zan was great at shooting and moving on.
Ohh the memories...

*Sigh* Storytime Kids,
I was a sniper back in beta. When I first started playing I grabbed a sniper. I upgraded from MLT to STD and a 5vs3 round clip was so cool to me. Then open beta came around, and I was starting to play a little bit less then I used to. Some point, mid open beta, I quit DUST (for real life reasons), and never came back to it. Then one day, I left my PS3 on overnight whilst playing Skyrim, and I melted/broke my disc drive (so I can't play disc games, only downloads like DUST). I decided to give dust another shot. I logged on, it was late Uprising 1.6 (I missed all of chromosome put all of my 9M sp I had Unallocated into maxing out snipers and and dabbling in heavy.
Within a week, I was very pissed off (I don't remember why, but dust is like an anger management class -_- and biomassed my character from Beta (his name was FireBombLynx). The very next day I made a new character named V3 xXSkiLLzXx (Dont ask why I picked the name, I thought it'd be cool I think). Trained him up exclusively as a MinScout and Eryx pilot. 1.7 hit the Eryx was gone, so I got all pissed off and guess what? I biomassed again (at roughly 5-6m sp). Month later, I made this guy, who I've been playing on ever since. I immediately brung myself back to my roots and was sniping again.
Within weeks I was already putting up good numbers with an NT-511. 24/0 was one I remember running a Ishkone sniper rifle on an STD Caldari medium (dumped all sp into SRs, no cores or suits). Once I got the Charge SR, I ended up getting an Assault ck.0 (only 4 highs back then) I was stacking damage mods and profile damps. It was a domination on the long orange pipes map. I immediately set up shop and began sniping with my Charge. I ended that match with 81/0 with 52 head shots and 21 assists. We cloned them. I have never been able to get more kills in a single match since then, especially without dying.
Nowadays I run prof V snipers on assault ck.o running 3x complex extenders, 2x complex energizes, and 3x complex shield regulators. I love it, but I'm having a hard time hitting 25 kills nowadays, because the MinAss is too fast to headshot.
Storytime over.
