On most suits tapping R2 will switch between your main weapon and your sidearm.
I propose that for Logi suits which do not have sidearms, that tapping R2 should switch between their main weapon and their first (farthest left) equipment slot.
This quickdraw equipment slot would be ideal for Repair Tools (Minmatar) and Active Scanners (Gallente).
As to the Caldari, well, I think they should have a sidearm like the Amarr do.

That would be cool, except I think on the Shaman suit (only APEX I have), that would be a nanohive. Correct me if wrong. I would want to see an actual tool (preferably rep tool) as the quick-draw for Shaman at least.
Also, on a related topic, switching from rep tool to weapon has gotten delayed with the cloak delay nerf. Let's keep this thread or similar at the top of the list

FPS = First Person Support. Kills win battles but it's kinda hard to kill if you're dead and out of ammo.

Also, it does not have to be the farthest left slot, as long as it is known and consistent. I only suggested the farthest left slot because it is closer to the weapon side of the fitting window.

I think you are right. It shouldn't be hard. Your idea has my total buy-in
