I haven't tried the scrambler pistol yet but, the ion pistol works wonders. I like it because it has a high round capacity and it can do quick work of scouts. Plus it is a good starter pistol against shield tankers. Also it shoots pretty fast. The only drawback I can see is the range. I swear I can't hit anything with it through the sights. What I'm wondering is how does the scrambler pistol compares against the ion? Is it worth a try? Does it has better range or other advantage over the ion?
On a separate but related question? do all the ion pistols overheat if you charge them? I only have the basic one. Because of the overheat i never charge it. It works fine that way but, it does seems as if I'm not taking full advantage of what the gun has to offer. |

i havent used the ion pistol since it came out, but i belive that all tiers of the weapon overheat after a charged shot. Also, unless they fixed it, the ion pistol has dispersion in ADS, making it hard to hit targets at range. The scrambler pistol is good, as long as you dont oversample the trigger and have good accuracy.

Ion pistol is for CQC panic hipfire shooting and works good at that.
Scrambler pistol is a much more precise (skilled too IMO) gun which require a good aim and which will be efficient if you shoot in the head. I prefer the ScP but that's me ^^
Assault, Logi, Scout, Heavy.. What do you need?

TY-5 BrScP with Proficiency V and at least two Complex Damage Mods will make everything die due to aim assisted headshots.
Sentinels, Commandos, tanked Assaults, tanked Logistics, tanked Scouts--nothing is safe from it. If only there was a sleek black Proto variant... |

Yes, all tiers of ion pistol overheat if you charge them.

The IP is very limited in what it can do, but it's actually the more effective pistol in close range, possessing both a better ROF and damage than the Assault ScP. The standard ScP outdoes it in raw damage, but only barely, and the fire rate is much lower. If you're going against shield tankers, the ScP will win, but against the average dual tanked suit, it will likely lose to the IP. I'd recommend taking both to advanced, try out all the ScP variants and see what you like. The biggest advantage of the ScP I believe, is exactly that. It has four variations; standard, assault, burst and breach, which gives you quite a few options versus the IP's single variation.
