Ion pistol has to be the least used weapon is the game, except CCP can't wrap their head around it. Buff please and stop the instant overheat. If it was IRL and a weapon overheated, I wouldn't sit there petting it to cool down. I'd drop that sh*t and switch to secondary.
Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to insta-overheat with charge shot? Especially when you don't even have it fully charged.

The charged shot deals a great amount of damage, often killing scouts in one hit, if you're lucky. It can be used most effectively around corners, say you want to remove a heavies shields in one hit, take cover, then switch to your HMG or such and finish him off. It had a cooldown of 3 seconds, now it's just 1, which is enough of a buff and is a solid sidearm in my opinion.
My Paladin will hurt you. Very badly.

That doesn't make it "good." It is a worthless secondary. That explains why I have barley even seen a ion pistol kill

Unless you're running unranked scout ck0s, you are not getting OHKO'd by a pistol whose charge shot cannot kill an unranked calassault.
How on earth are you fitting a suit to get OHKO'd by a 350 charge?
Sometimes, one just has an overwhelming urge to throw a potato at someone.

It is super fun but you die 90% of the time if you charge. But it is a great kill stealer weapon.

It's a mini shotgun.
You charge it and come around a corner and poof... You insta kill scouts...
Take out most health on everything else... Switch to main weapon and its over.
Most people use their secondary as a finisher... With the Ion Pistol it is used as an opener... That is why people have a hard time wrapping their playstyle around the gun. |

Just to be fair, I encourage a slight range buff. Damage is fine as it is.
That said, I OHK a Gal Commando after his shields went down. Around 600-700 armor, gone. Even as a headshot, that's a ton, for a shield-oriented weapon.

You act like that 2 second overheat doesn't mean anything. The only thing the pistol is good for doing is doing 300-400 damage and overheating and letting enemy pick you apart with their hands. If ION pistol was actually good, why haven't I seen an Ion pistol kill for months. I see more people using melee than ion pistols. BTW, don't forget that if you miss you did 0 damage and just accepted another death.

Also- again- It is a terrible opener weapon, if you use it by pressing r1 and not charging you might aswell just use your other equipped weapon and if you charge shot the person first and don't kill him, you might aswell just accept death because any good player will mow you apart with their primary. Even bad players probably. Bro, starter fit snipers will quipscope you before you get a chance to switch to your main weapon.
