The concept is easy, basically you get something that you can't open (i haven't found a key in days), instead of something that potentially you can't use, but with SP you can unlock.
Me and many other are experiencing a very high salvage of strongboxes and litterally zero weapons/nades.
Please give strongboxes only with daily challenge and delete them from EOM.
Situational awareness also known as passive scan.

I salvaged an exo-5 MD and a creodron SG just a few hours ago. And salvaged decryptor keys before that. Strongboxes are far from all that's getting salvaged atm |

Maybe you and those "several others" just have really **** luck. I recieved my FIRST pack of strongbox salvage yesterday. Prior to that, it was all Tactical ScP, Ishukone SMGs, or nothing.
Gallente User since Jan. 28th, 2013. Touched on every Gallente role since.

I bought a ten pack of keys... I can't recommend it.
I'll spend money, but these lockboxes need a hotfix before I do anything other than wish the red notification would disappear.

I've opened over a hundred of those boxes so far, and very little of it was of any use to me. I did get a 1 day omega though... |

The better I do in each battle, the more strongboxes I get at the EoM screen. The most I have had in one game is 10, but I regularly get 7. Everyday my daily missions reward me an average of 10 strongboxes.
I have had two keys (via missions), and got 9x Defender suits from one, and a single officer sniper from the other. Sigh.
