I think it would be in everyone's best interest if all CPM members join the trello board and provide at least their votes on the proposals presented.
I'm sure they'll help you in your next election, and provide a way for your constituents to see where you stand on various ideas.

This had actually been a topic of discussion, since we have our own internal boards and methods. There was a prevailing thought that since we have our own channels, rather than overwhelming the public feedback channel as well, we should sit back and monitor it.
It's good feedback though, and I'd welcome any other thoughts on whether or not we should be participating on the public Trello.

Looking at the 2 trello boards (Official Dust Roadmap, and Community Crowdsource) you'll notice that (and I'm as guilty as anyone for this):

There's a pretty large disconnect between the Community's intended direction and CCP's roadmap.
PC is listed as the primary EPIC feature on all 3 announced milestones. With cryptic listings that really should be explained if the community is to lend any sort of voice.
Meantime, the highest rated crowdsource elements are currently:
Vehicle Locks, 21 votes PvE, 20 votes Pilot Suit, 19 votes.
Vehicles aren't even mentioned in the roadmap beyond the Warbarge, which is a social space in Dust (and supposedly an EVE Ship in New Eden) and some expanded locking mechanism (or not) probably isn't a big deal either way in any event.

Pilot Suits are like an open sore in the client and have been since Uprising's launch. I can't believe the menu options remain, without even a "Soon(Gäó)"
Yes, PC has been a failure since launch and it needs work to be relevant, and many of the UI and Experience changes listed on the roadmap would make many things in Dust more interesting, and Salvage Role, I dig that! However, the gulf between the 2 visions ("Pie in the Sky" vs. "Lowered Expectations") is pretty serious and has been for some time.
IMHO That's where the CPM can provide some insight, some guidance and some leadership to the community, not just a sounding board for CCP, although, I appreciate and respect their efforts on that front.
I suggest that (without breaking NDA) CPM's add some cards to the community site centered around their thoughts on the CCP roadmap items.
Some obvious things are not necessary (Marketplace, trading, metalevel fitting, achievements, etc) they probably should have been in the game from launch, and we expect CCP will do a perfectly adequate job implementing them as a feature.
The Salvage Role, Warbarges (as anything beyond a social space), PC team travel/transport (flotilla/raiding), maps.
These things deserve some discussion that can't happen without some inisight on the suggestions made by the CPM, which should be able to be made without revealing what CCP has presented (or hasn't) to our player representative organization (ie: all's ya'lls) |

It is definitely hard for people to comment on the Planetary Conquest proposal without knowing what it is. I recently communicated to CCP the importance of getting the concept design for it published as soon as possible.
On the CPM's Trello, I had specifically proposed two major improvements to the vehicle lock system myself.
Pilot suits probably need to be tied with additional vehicle implementation, as they'll have to balanced with a more comprehensive overhaul of vehicle design. Balance stuff tends not to make the roadmap, because it's done in between, often in hotfixes. I'd like to see pilot suits too, and I do figure some code to make them possible probably needs to be slid in a patch somewhere.
But both of these are actually more minor than most of the roadmap items. The roadmap is meant to be more high concept than detail.

Exactly. This is where some guidance from CPM folks would be excellent. Lead by example and make some Community trello posts (its much more organized now).
I'm not saying propose throwaway ideas, but create some posts that follow the style of what you've been doing behind closed doors and the board might be able to move away from 'gimme gimme' and into 'how would this begin to be thought of in terms of balanced game mechanics'. |
