Just remove the (X) option to activate inertia dampeners, it is useless now.
For those who haven't played yet:
If you usually wait until last second to hit X when falling, it will auto activate about 2 seconds before you land. You no longer have the ability to hit X a split second before landing. For those moments when you jump from high places into hostile territory, enemies will spot you every time.
I suggest for there to be a means to toggle this new feature On and OFF in the OPTIONS menu.

Agreed. Not sure why this was added at all. Really annoying, TBH, and practically instant death if you jump down and anyone else is within earshot. |

Also should be able to initiate them from lower hights if you so choose.
Been low on health and jumped to evade only to die cause I wasn't quite high enough.

Yeah, I tried to silently jump behind the enemy and sneak attack them. Instead I activated my inertia dampener to avoid a whole 10(!) damage, and alerting the enemy of my position in the act.

It's because our fluxarian pixie fusion reactor dust is highly unstable and doesn't take well to sudden jarring, hence why dropsuits take such a horrific amount of damage from falling, and why vehicles with even larger amounts of the chemical dust are so volitile to ramming (Especially the shield and thus energy demanding caldari vehicles). The HAVs are large enough to have better containment fields though, and the starships themselves can actually use proper reactors.

It really has nothing to do with pressing X at the last second that really does not do as much as you may think. the only problem is if people want to willing take increased fall damage and instead of having to recover from getting up from the inter damp effect. Which in some situations is the smart thing to do. It really does not matter when you press x to activate pre-patch anyways.

Yes please, it was a little thing I really loved to do. I know it was put in to stop newbros getting killed at the start but please let us have the option to activate it. There is also a few seconds game advantage you can get because you can be heard while falling with the dampeners so using it at the last second while landing near someone can actually be a life or death situation. |
