I apologize if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find anything with a few searches.
The UI seems to be heavily focused on Red/Green tones. My buddy has been having a bit of difficulty distinguishing a lot of important data at a glance because of this. Are there plans to support the primary color blindness profiles at this time?
Just wanted to start a ball rolling in case it wasn't already. Thanks for your time. |

7 to 10% of the male population, including me, are some sort of reg/green colorblind. make the green more yellow, and I'd be happy. |

Supported by me as well.
I never understood why FPS games would not let you customize friendly/enemy color indicators. Even just a few choices so that you are not stuck with colors that are very hard to differentiate from one another. |

I also have a hard time because of being red/green color blind. World of tanks takes care of this by making the enemies blue with the colorblind mode on. Please intergrate this asap so I can stop shooting my allies, I feel a little bit bad about killing them. |

In the forums before the last wipe, I am pretty sure they said they were working on this. Someone from CCP would have to confirm, but it is a very good thing to have, I agree! |

Adding my support for this. I really struggled with Battlefield BC2:Vietnam because of the muted green/brown they used for friend/foe. A colorblind mode would be fantastic. |

Awesome to hear it seems to be being worked on, but best to keep it up front.
Just to add a bit more fuel to this:
Was talking with my buddy over lunch and I mentioned the reticle switching colors and he looked confused. I then learned he had no idea the crosshairs became red when over enemy troops and equipment. We discussed it some more and he told me about a few tricks he's developed to help him distinguish foes.
This is not something that should still have to happen when the game gets to commercial release. So CCP please make sure to put in support for alternate color schemes / mechanics to support the colorblind player base! |

EVE lets you set custom colors for all manner of friendlies, hostiles and neutrals in your overview settings. Dust needs to allow this as well. |

I support the need for color-blind options and/ or the ability to toggle friendly and enemy name tags. I would prefer the full UI flexibilty as EVE. |

Hey everyone, thank you for your feedback and concerns.
We'll be making steps towards making DUST 514 more colorblind friendly. In the short term you can expect Red/Green indicators to shift to Red/Blue. This should be in the next beta build update.
In the long term you can expect different icons to distinguish between friendlies and hostiles, this may or may not make it into the next update, but it is being worked on. |

I think switching from green/red to blue/red alone wont help very much.
The problem is, that red on that brownish landcolor will not be much better, unless the red is moved to some more yellow/orange.
The best solution might be a red marker, with an yellow outline, so you can see them on either background. Or make them BIG LARGE DOTS ;D
By the way: is there a difference between the team armor colors? Or are they all the same? I barely can distinguish enemies by just looking at them, which is very annoying.
Just for showing some normal seeing people how I see the world, compare the 3 pictures on the right side of this page:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farbenblindheit
The first and the third picture look identically for me. The middle picture is what people who are REALLY colorblind see.
Furthermore there are other types of color blindness as seen here:

Im hoping that they will have the logos of the corp on the armor as well as the vehicles and what not, but do remember like eve they will probably allow you to change the color, so you could use purple and yellow if you wanted. |

Great! Any chance of making it Orange/blue?

Would also be interesting if a corp could somewhat personalize the armour colour to the ones they want .
Like each armour suit has colour spots, and the CEO can chose what colour these spots will be and this would be valid for the entire corp.
Pink dropsuits anyone? lol |

I agree with the OP aswell.
I'm currently also having a hard time distinguishing Squad members from enemies when the light in my room is too bright (a.k.a. daylight ^^). Making the squad member nametag more bright would help alot (and also highlight more where your buddies are).
Also it's sometimes quite difficult to quickly find the red A and B target markers. I have to look around for a while to find them if i'm in a darker or confusing spot. And on the map they are pretty much invisible. Again more brightness would be awesome ^^ |

I would support orange-blue contrast as well. Orange and Blue are opposite colors on the spectrum. The idea of contrasting colors would 'pop-out' when it comes to the two colors.
BF3 alone used this contrasting color effect and makes it look fantastic. If you'd like to know more check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aip2aIt0ROM (skip to 6:50) |
