I don't know if asking this is taboo or not..
I just wanted to ping the servers to see if I'm the one causing the lag issues I've been experiencing.
Is there an optimal ping that works well with the game? under 100?

Do I need to ping from the ps3 or just from any device on my network?
If I where a gambling man ( and i'm not, so i hate laggers ) I would wager the servers are co-located at SONY's NOC located in London, Tokyo, and San Diego Ca.
I read a white paper that stated 79ms was online FPS's sweet spot, because of the forgiving nature of UDP packet timing.
If you're EST, and the Americas server is full of Asia, south america, and euro's, go use the euro server. my London ping averages 100ms so it's not to OP.

You can find the original IPs here
With that said, only the asian server is actually still reachable under its documented IP while the others must have moved, the EU more than a year ago since that's when I tried to check. I'm not aware of any official updates though there have been requests of that nature.
One trashy way to guesstimate your current ping is to measure the time it takes between any weapon firing and its ammo count getting updated, since the former is predicted client side while the latter relies on server side confirmation. If you can clearly tell there's a delay between those two, like several shots with any AR variant, rest assured that your ping is bad.
You can take a benign object, -you can take a cheeseburger and deconstruct it to its source...
