What comes to mind when you say it?

Hard Impact, penetrating, full onslaught in a small space.(not describing sex here though).
The first thought that comes to mind is the LotR scene, where Saruman's army explodes the Deeping Wall.

Breaking or crossing something like "in breach of contract" or breaking through a defense. Breach a wall etc.

I think breach loading.
Otherwise, breach and assault can basically be synonymous.
Thunderbolt. verb and noun.
"James thunderbolted in his pants."
"I lit a bag of thunderbolt on fire on CCP's doorway"

Never heard of a breech weapon till I picked up Dust.
I thought it was a no brainier that the shotgun was a breeching weapon.
I know the Germans hated the U.S. Marines shotgun toten @ss in WWI.  .
The Germans even complained to the Geneva Convention on that note. 
Sucked to be that German in the trench with that rifle. And I don't think a breech rifle would have helped'em either.
Still it took some guts for the doughboys to get to that trench in the first place. o7
Sorry, I still don't know what it means in this game though.

I'm just trying to shed light on the role that breach weapons should fit into in Dust.
Based off of these answers, the Breach weapons in general should be these things in comparison the the regular variants.
1. Higher damage per clip
2. Higher damage per shot
3. Capable of unloading damage quickly
4. More reliable damage application in the form of less kick
While having the drawbacks of
1. Less total ammo reserves
2. (Possibly) longer reload times, but not by a ton
3. Shorter range, confining it to more CQC engagements (20-30m optimal for rifles, sidearms 15-25m)
In this light, the Breach shotgun is actually following its breach role, or at least attempting to. CCP had the right idea with that one.
