So I was browsing the various blueprint stuff and wondered - if I have the blueprints for the dragonfly assault plus the blueprints for the rr, smg, shield extenders, uplinks, armour repairer (or plates) and damage mod... can I fit them all in to create a complete blueprint for ambush isk grinding?
at the moment I'm running super cheap suits based on having just the suit as a blueprint. and it won't fit all of these things in without missing something out (I've already ditched the notion of grenades btw)
if I skill all the way into rails and smgs (pg upgrades) am I going to make it work. I cannot for the life of me do the maths on this what do you reckon? help much appreciated...

Of course you can spend all of your SP into that one combination to make a super efficient grinding fit that costs 0 Isk, Or you could learn to play better, have 4 different fittings(say, a Shield Tank MinAssault, an Armor Tank, and a Gank N Sprint fit, then your psuedo EWAR.)
Personally i'd rather be able to rely on my personal experience to do great in a 3k isk suit than to spend 40+ bucks on BPOs and then spending my 36 million all to max out said BPO, as then i wouldnt be having fun anymore.
My idea of fun is to use my 1-2 prot suits in as many different ways as possible, gradually learning the EXACT limitations, than to go grinding away in BPO inly fits just to see a number go up.

I simply made a BPO suit for every occasion
and every suit type except commando (Get on it CCP!!!) *cracks whip*
But then I've had over a year randomly accumulating them.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

Don't apologise I hear you, ranting is fine by me.
My strategy is to play my advance suits (I'm at proto assault but never use it) in skirmish and domination and, like you say, play for fun. and fun is always had.
But the fun comes at a cost. I never ground out isk and while I'm enjoying my variety of advance suits I'm spending isk way above my earnings.
So I need to make the stuff - so I play from a variety of ultra cheap (between 4k and 7k) fits in ambush and like you say I try to gg as I do it. And I'm making the isk back that I'm losing in skirm and dom.
The appeal of an all blueprint suit simply for this purpose is of course in-game enrichment and yes it speaks to the obsessive compulsive part of me that wants to make everything juuust perfect...
I should also point out that some wackos like myself actually get fun by grinding and making in game currency - and without a stash of that currency then the fun isk-draining suits will eventually run out. so there's some purpose to it.

Starter fits are great for ambush grinding. They are the only suits I use in ambush. Once your cores are skilled up, just stick a good gun on the suit and you will do pretty good. It makes you learn to play better, and the ISK efficiency is high.

yer most bpo suit/mod combinations work in terms off cpu/pg if thats wat ur asking. they should also have the bonus side effect of making u a better player. if prettymuch everyone out there has better gear than u, every kill/ chase is exiting.

most of my BPO suits cost about 12-17k. thats usually basoc rifle, toxin SMG, flux nade, std or adv equipment (hive/scanner) then ADV shield or armour and a compled DM or two. with proto skills in all the suits i have bpos for as well as weapons they're really effective. i've just gone 19:4 in my C-II and its a 13k suit
Never argue with an idiot. they bring you down to their level and beat you through experience

First off you should increase your core skills anyways to level four, and eventually raise them to level 5 when you have "time." Don't be in a rush to raise them too fast though as if you have max core skills but literally nothing else then you've essentially spent millions of SP on being a target. Just concentrate early on on getting the most bang for your buck SP wise.
Core skills are your Dropsuit Core Upgrade, Electronics, Engineering, Shield and Armor upgrade skills (The ones that raise your base HP by 5% per level).
If you do this then you'll be easily able to fit any BPO suit with pure militia and basic BPOs.
My Dragonfly assault with max cores can fit all basic with an Adv RR and three Adv shield extenders, barely...
As for the weapon skills, I'd avoid skilling into them too much unless you really like those weapons, the SMG is a lovely sidearm that you won't regret but the RR is meant for long-range so skill accordingly only if you really love it (I do).
Avoid the Weapon PG proficiency skills until you are near your "end game" for tweaking your favorite suit (Not needed for BPOs using low stuff anyways), they are a horrible waste of SP unless you have a lot of other skills maxed out.

This is how i look at my Shaman suit.
4 basic extenders = 2 enhanced shields 1 plate 1 ferroscale = 1 enhanced plate with less penalty 1 kincat 1 shield reg = 1 secret new mitari low slot mod
ACR and locust nade I make space for 4 equipment in the backpack by leaving my SMG at home.
Thats my BPO grinding suit. Its a basic suit with basic+ modules.
