Wasn't sure where to put this. Been playing for about a year and a half but I haven't been able to figure out how planetary conquest works. Is it something that you can do without playing eve? I've had my own corp and never seen any UI options for it. If it wasn't for the forums I'd have no idea it existed.
How do you start? |

Well, since we are in the Rookie Training Ground, let's start from the ground up.
Planetary Conquest was a new mode introduced in Uprising 1.0 (you can find past information here, here, and here). For some of us in closed beta, this was a big transition from Corporation Battles (where bids were set, and the attacking party had to agree to the terms), to the new version (territory you owned and controlled, but could be attacked at any time).
You can enter Planetary Conquest at any time, but the road to it can be quite difficult, as many view it as a sort of "end-game content". Not only do you need your own corporation name and banner to fly under (costs: 1.6 million ISK to create a corporation and further, you need to train into corporation skillbooks in order for your character to lead said corporation), but you'll need a minimum of 15 other players to fight with you. Whether you bring in people to join your cause under your corporation, or recruit "ringers" (people who will fight for and with you, but do not join your corporation), the decision will be yours.
There are a couple of ways to get your first stronghold in Planetary Conquest (or PC). You can purchase a Clone Genolution Pack for an ISK price tag in order to attack a district of your choice. The district's owner will be notified of the attack and a time will be set for the upcoming battle. On your Battle Finder screen, this battle will appear under Corporation Contracts.
However, certain mechanics may inhibit you from taking a district from the get-go. For one, currently Clone Packs give you 150 clones to attack. Many districts have a maximum clone count of 300 (or 450 with Cargo Hubs) with a clone replenish rate of 80 (100 for Production Facilities). Should you lose an attack, you get 0 ISK reward with only Salvage Loot from the battle and all clones from that battle will be lost to the winning district. Additionally, that winning defending district is unable to be attacked the following day. Should you win the battle, you receive ISK and loot, and you are able to attack the following day. However, if you are extremely careful of your clones, if you win a battle and you have more than 100 clones remaining, you have the ability of taking the district.
However, there is another way....
... I will elaborate on this tomorrow, but as of right now, I'm falling asleep at the keyboard. I'll edit this post tomorrow with more info, but I hope this gets you off to a good start as to what Planetary Conquest is.
Oh and you don't need EVE support, but it is extremely helpful which I'll talk about in my edit tomorrow.

Edit: also how do you buy Clone Genolution Packs? I've read about it but still couldn't figure it out Finished my edit!
Clone Genolution Packs are bought when viewing a district. Once you are in a corporation and you have the roles of Terrestrial Logistics Officer or higher, you will be able to select a district and the option will become available.
Should you happen to own your own district, another option will be available: the ability to send clones to attack that district.
EDIT: Also, have some likes.

Thanks. One more thing. I tested this just to make sure I got it. I have the Terrestrial Logistics Officer role but when ever I select a planet I don't have any options. I checked the Atlas, FW and Corporation tabs but no difference. Is it because my corp doesn't have 15 members maybe? Or does it need to be certain planets? |

I also couldn't figure out the Genolution thing. I keep reading you need to buy the pack but I can't figure out how. Hmm, that's strange. Well, I think it's time for me to make an alt and do some testing of my own. Unfortunately, the PC realm has changed quick a lot since it was first introduced and it's difficult to find information on all the changes as it seems like most user-created documentation on the matter is out of date.
I'll get back to you and give you the correct information first hand as well as updating any incorrect info in my first reply to you.

Ok so I went to an inhabited planet in Molden Heath and I can select a district bu there don't seem to be any options once I do. Seem to be getting closer but still missing something important. |

Did you switch the Atlas view to "Corporation"?
You might have chosen an inhabited planet in Molden Heath that's not actually apart of the districts opened up to us for Planetary Conquest.
For example, I was poking around and found the following coordinates:
Molden Heath : Besateoden : Orien IV
While this planet has 10 districts you can choose from, none of these are apart of the current Planetary Conquest districts opened for corporations to capture and hold.
Switching to the Corporation Tab, will allow you to see districts held by the different player organizations as well as options to be able to launch an attack on those districts.
Once again, you'll need the role of at least a Tactical Logistics Officer or greater on the character to launch the attack.
Something further though, I believe I have heard is in order to purchase Clone Packs, they come from the corporation wallet. In order to do this, you might also need the role of Accountant as well. However, it has been a long time since I've had roles of this nature and I'm not sure if this is correct or not.
If what I suggested above about switching to the Corporation Tab doesn't work, let me know and I'll go through with trying to test on some alts.

Kaze is right about you needing to be in the Corporation tab on the star map. Best to switch to the Corp tap when you first open the map, then Molden Heath will be the only region colored. Then as you zoom in, only the clusters, systems, and planets that are used in Planetary Conquest are colored.
The Orien system has a Terrestrial planet, but it is a High Security system. Same for Eldulf, Feilfiven, Aeddin, and Fegomenko. Parts of Molden Heath is High Sec, and parts are Low Sec. Planetary Conquest only takes place in Low Security systems.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Thanks guys. I'll update this again when I can login (server issues atm) and update with a complete list of instructions all in one post in case anyone else searches this.
I bet I need to move some ISK to my corp. I have almost 100m myself just from pubs but my corp tax rate is 0% because I wasn't concerned about PC until now. |

Well since the game will always be in flux and updated, we might not always have a certain way to do PC battles. However, once you find out the problem, I don't mind updating my post to have clear cut instructions for the current iteration of the game. Definitely would like to see more people join forces in new corporations and start taking territory in PC though!
Depending on the servers and my boredom, I may head to the Dust University wiki and update any info on PC as well.

Ok so as of today here is how to do this.
-Create a character (obviously) -Skill into Corporations. It's either 2 or 3. I have 3 now so I can't check if you can do it with only 2. Definately not 1. -Make sure you have the roles accountant and terrestrial combat officer -Make sure your corp has 50m ISK -Go to Battle and then Starmap -Switch to corporation tab. The highlighted regions are the ones you can actually do anything in. Not the black ones. Presently this is only Molden Heath. Then select a constillation (same rules apply). Then a star system and a planet. -select a district and then Buy Clone Starter Pack. Not positive what happens after this. Didn't want to spent half my lifetime ISK to find out. Seems like it will commence an attack. |
