Right now there are a couple circles on the radar, with the innermost one being 20m. Out of curiosity, how possible would it be to have the circles dynamically adjust to your suits scan range, making the boundaries of the new close/medium scanning and medium/long scanning?
Also I'd like to point out again that inside the inner curve really is 20m, and scouts new normal mid scan is only 10m? So with the skill maxed it is 15m, then with proposed mod reduction to 25% you still don't even make it to 20m. From experience, inside that inner circle is useless. However, theoretically I agree that 20m is advantageous. The big problem here is that the 20m mark is so packed into that small under circle that is hard to make it out, meanwhile you have large portions of the radar showing distances you aren't even remotely close to being able to scan. So if perhaps it'd also be possible to zoom in on the radar to show only the relevant distances for you. So the edge of the radar should show your max range, and draw a line proportionate for where the short/medium and medium/long cut off is.
E.g. If your short scan is 5m, mid scan is 10m, and long scan 20m then the edge of your radar should show 20m, a circle going right through the center showing 10m, and a circle going through 25% of the radar depicting 5m.
SUMMARY 1) If possible, have the radar adjust to your fits scanning range 2) Radar should have two interior circles to clearly define your scan ranges 3) Zoom in on the radar to show more clearly what is actually relevant to your scanning abilities

Even with an Amarr Scout fitted with Range Amps leaves a lot of the tacnet untouched.. This proposal could be a nice change, though I would consider ....
- Keep the currnet tacnet (large area) for the tacnet displayed when inside a vehicle
- Have the smaller tacnet area proposed above for infantry |

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but I kinda need my radar to extend to at least 100 meters if I want to locate where those uplinks are 100 meters out when I use a scanner...
Also, whenever enemies show up on the radar from teammates, it's almost always way outside my own passive scanning range.
Sure, this might be balanced somewhat (sentinels having a pretty much useless radar), but having a smaller radar wouldn't help many players. It might be interesting to have a way to reduce it in Legion as some sort of setting option, but not for Dust.

The one good suggestion is to show the near, medium, and long range passive scan circles on the radar. That would be useful.
Zooming the radar in to your scan range would not be so helpful. You want to be able to see the guys who are out of your scan range who are picked up by a Squad mate's active scanners and such. Or see when an enemy Sentinel is camping a CRU 50m away.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

o/ Aero
Might I suggest that if rings are made dynamic that they also be labeled with distance? Callout quality might otherwise suffer.

good idea
i'd like my suits scans differentiated via color because it would help me locate other heavies in the crowd.
dots on the wall are good enough for the rest, imo. |

Ok, I see the argument for not zooming in on the radar. A toggle zoom would be nice, but probably something that would need to wait for legion.
I will still say the the scouts base medium scan range of 10m is too low. Remember this is what it used to be and we buffed it? And for good reason. This added with the proposed scan range amp mod nerf and the penalty trade of relationship between precision and range . . . Not saying it's a bad idea, but when you look at where 10m actually is on the radar it is pathetic.
