In my experience in the game people with Apex Suits don't seem to have much of advantage coming up against me compared to players with Advanced or Prototype suits.
I am having trouble understanding why someone would spend Aurum on these suits when they could use the Aurum to purchase Passive and Active boosters which will allow them to skill up into something more permanent. |

Unless you've bought them with LP. That's what I did. The suits along with your core, modules and weapon skills are actually decent. Remember they're 100% free and have basic modules so the focus is not being competitive although you can be competitive with those suits.
Not losing ISK is nice for the people who don't have alot of it. |

They aren't that great, nor are they meant to be. Think of them as a step up from the Frontline Starter Fits. I think most mercs are grinding FW to get them for free. At least that's what I'm doing, lol. Got my Logi, halfway to my Commando!

Over the long term, BPOs are much valuable because you can fit them better and more flexibly.
That said, for the starting merc, APEX suits are attractive. |

However, if I were playing this game for the first time, I'd recommend any serious player consider buying the $100 pack and get all the Dren suits/weapons and spend the AUR on some boosters...as those Dren suits/weapons become quite powerful once they have the power of SP behind them....and that $100 pack is really a good deal in this regard.
I wasn't aware those APEX Suits were BPOs. Knowing that it makes more sense as to why people will invest in those. |

Novelty.
Most if not all are only really the equivalent of a pre-fitted standard BPO under the pretext that it is a racially appropriate fitting.
Moreover if you take a look at the ones earnt in the LP stores they neither differ in colour scheme nor have a colour scheme or design that actually represents their faction.
If you want one you want one....... if you don't (like me) you don't..... IMO they aren't even worth the time earning LP.

They aren't to good but not to bad either. The Amarr Assault is a decent tank suit if you max out your shield and armor skills and the Uplinks are good for those times when the usual bunch of uplink spammers are slacking.

Novelty.
The Federation is not a defined region of space, of planets, of mountains, rivers, or woods. It is a vision.

They are, but APEX are the "can't reconfigure" type, where as the Dren (and Covenant, etc.) are "reconfigurable". One of the disadvantages of the Dren suits is that it costs more to run one than the fully-fit-out APEX suits that come preconfigured.

It gives me the freedom of not caring. I will push harder and take risks I otherwise wouldn't with a suit that is expensive. |

Black and Gold just suits that Amarr logi. Seriously.
Caldari Logi looks nice with it too.
Edit: I predict that the suit that comes with the Breach AR will be most OP. *cough* Gallogi, the one also with scanners.

Worst 39$ I've ever spent on a virtual item. I've got some serious buyer regret for this thing. I thought it was going to be a somewhat nice looking suit, but it looks like crap.
Conversely, the Quafe Assault A-1 was the best 10% I've ever spent on a virtual item. 10/10 would recommend.
Please, make my Opus pretty...
