Weapon Asset: Plasma cannon, about 15-20% larger, Amarr colors
Charge Up Asset: Forge gun glow, color changed to yellow or red
Projectile Asset: Laser Rifle Laser, double to triple the width, yellow or red
Basic Concept: The beam laser is an anti shield AV weapon. it has a charge up time similar to the forge gun, but instead of firing a single round, it produces a beam that lasts for up to 4 seconds before overheating. For every .5 consecutive seconds on a target, the beam deals slightly increased damage. If the beam leaves the target at any moment, the damage is reverted to base. If damage is applied the entire time and pushed into overheat, it should deal roughly 50% more damage than a standard forge gun. 30% more if ended before overheat
If the beam is ended before overheat, it has a 3 second cooldown time. If it oveheats, its a 6 second cooldown, plus some feedback damage to the operator
All these numbers are entirely subject to change and just conceptual placeholders to get some ideas flowing. With all the talk of using old assets to create new heavy weapons, I thought id toss one more idea onto the pile

I always kinda liked the idea of combining the ScR and LR, but reversing the LR. You get some alpha with the charge, and then the beam does less damage as it goes on as the charge runs out.
Get a nice clean, hard hit, and then keep the damage going to finish them off at the risk of overheating.

Dude, laser heavy weapon is going to kill the game especially with the fact that how easy it will be to aim at ADS. I mean, ADS is huge AF and it isn't twitchy like infantry. Trust me, we don't need a heavy laser AV weapon.

You cant just have all anti armor AV and expect to call it balanced...
I for one want shields to suffer just as badly as armor so that CCP might finally be forced to admit that vehicle balance is shot. No sense having only one type of vehicle rocked by AV, join the party. The more the merrier

We could use heavy anti-shield weaponry
Khanid Logi and Tanker, sometimes AV Heavy or Sniper.
I believe all these roles are support for front line soldiers.

I think it would be better for the weapon to use the the forge gun asset. Using the plamsa cannon wouldn't feel like a good fit for it. |

That's debatable since the Amarr and Gallente both use rounded shapes/designs though the Gallente tend to do it more organically.
I'm sure it could be re-skinned have some other part of the laser attached to it somewhere to make it look unique.
