Considering the war room has hit rock bottom in post frequency and now we don't have lockingbro in here being a forum **** I thought I'd post something a little off topic.
So I'm visiting my family for the weekend (college) and of course I had to bring my PS3 with me. My 5 year old brother asks me frequently if he can play GTA 5, I tried to be responsible and say no but this kid would not give up asking. He hates watching me play Dust, he doesn't give a reason why other than he doesn't like it.
Anyway I finally cave and let him play it, he gets into it and all he's doing is walking down the street and saying hi to pedestrians as Franklin. I think well this may only be because it's his first time but he seems like he won't be doing anything too "mature".
So an hour goes by and I come back to check on him. He's standing in Jimmy's room watching him play Righteous Slaughter or whatever the f***. I ask him why he's doing that and he flat out says he likes watching jimmy play that game much more than watching me play Dust.
Completely baffled, I ask him how long he's been doing this. He said he switched from the brown guy after 5 mins to Michael, explored his house, found Jimmy's room and has been watching Jimmy play for the last 40 minutes.
So what do you guys think? I know it was fake gameplay designed to look like a parody of most FPS games, but its a pretty short loop of the same gameplay, to watch that for 40 minutes and still be giggling at the part where the dude gets on top of the dead guy and a "MOLESTATION" achievement pops up but still sigh in obvious displeasure at the sight of me selecting the Dust icon on the ps3 menu is just unbelievable.
It's just one 5 year old's opinion but it really made me reavaluate my game preferences. |

a 5 year old shouldn't be making you reevaluate choices, lol.
Gotta remember they have attention span - and Dust isn't a pretty game. |

I know but I still find it a little ridiculous that he constantly complains about watching me play Dust but is willing to stand there and watch a NPC play looped gameplay for 40 minutes. That gameplay doesn't look very pretty either on my tube TV on an even smaller virtual TV.
It's like comparing the size of a bumble bee's wings to its ****** body and trying to figure out how the hell it's air born, I can't get over it. |

If you want him interested tell him a story as you play.
My little cousins actually love it when I play Dust on my 65inch with them around. I love to role-play my deaths and successes for there enjoyment and add personality to the mercs I'm fighting, because, well, I know most of you. So as I play I give all sorts of back story on recent events and grudges * a lot of it is glittered for there entertainment* and it pulls them into what I'm doing.
They haven't been by in a month and I wasn't play Dust back then, one asked me to play and I told them the quick story of my retirement, lol.
Next time they come back I'll have some epic story of how rivalries were reborn through spite and cunning.
They used to root for OH because they liked Rei's voice -.- |

This made me realize I need to stop being such a boring ass hole. Also now that you mention it jimmy does add a lot more commentary than me, most of them insults but still I'm being outdone by a raspy 420 fat kid, this needs to change.

It's my experience some people have a flare for story telling and others don't. You really gotta be into the story yourself if you want to sell it as exciting and interesting to someone else.
One day I may write a book about my time here in Dust. |

This is actually probably the most post frequency the war room has seen in a decent bit, thanks to yours truly
but it's mainly just me, Sota and 8213s alt bickering at people, while others struggle to make witty replies.
