so i used it yesterday and i scored 2k wp 32 kill match with 8 deaths, first place for my team. lets be honest, those are really good numbers for an under powered weapon. the problem is the ammo count and the range.
with 18 rounds, i can kill pretty much 1 dropsuit and severely damage another, forcing me to use my side arm. that is really low and it suck. I've seen many posts that want an increase to its mag, the thing is that the weapon itself has high damage per clip. i came up across a heavy and a scout while guarding a post. i began to chew down my ammo only to realize I'm out again and need my side arm. is i jump around changing weapons and avoiding bullets, i realize the amount of damage that i caused. the heavy was 7/8th through its armor, whom i killed with a charged ion pistol round. the scout (cal) was only left with their armor in which we ended killing each other at the same time. the is a lot of damage for 18 rounds.
the other problem is its range. i remember when the tac had the highest range of the assault rifles, before they were evened out. that NEEDS to come back again. the range is somewhat ok as it is right now, being its an assault rifle, but its horrible when we talk of it as a tactical rifle. one part while i was playing yesterday, i came across 2 scouts in the same area at slightly different times. both caldari. one took me about 6 rounds to kill. he was well in range of the tacAR. the other had a combat rifle. he was well out of my range but under the CR range. i hit him with 9 rounds before he killed me. not so good.
the tac ar needs a small ammo increase to mag without adding an excessive amount of ammo per mag #. id say raise it to 25. range wise, i haven't seen the numbers for it but it needs a really good buff. its should be better than all assault rifles and should be able to help me in thath last situation. FYI i used an adv gal assault with the adv tac and adv ion pistol. adv damage mod
Minmatar-assault combat rifle, flaylock pistol, tanked, quick. Before you know it..........your dead.......

Its essentially a Scrambler with
1.) a smaller, but more random recoil (especially with Gallassault, but I'm not going to consider the Assault bonuses as a balancing factor of the weapon itself) 2.) less range and more DPS. About 7.5% more damage and about 15% less range. Pretty standard ratio. 3.) no charge function, but no overheat as well. (I will say that it is simple better to reload than it is to overheat, because it doesn't stop you from sprinting, doesn't damage the player, and takes less time.) 4.) equivalent magazine/volley sizes. The ScR overheats after ~18 consecutive shots, and the TacAR reloads after 18. The ScR can mitigate this by controlling its fire rate, but the user sacrifices A LOT of DPS to do this.(same with Gallassault, I'm not going to consider the Amassault bonus in this comparison.) 5.) Better damage profile. More armor damage is simply better. Non-negotiable. There is and will always be more Armor HP on the field than shield HP due to the virtue of Armor HP simply being higher.
Please, make my Opus pretty...
