It's extremely perplexing. It seems like people with the worst connections tend to get the highest scores.

I only play pubs and this is a recurring scenario: Full proto squad on other team. Me soloing fighting off a ton of people while half of my team is walking around shooting at the MCC and each other. Me and (insert names of 1-3 helpful teammates here) take a null cannon after a savage fight against a couple solo players.
I notice that the top guy on the other team is getting a lot of kills on the killfeed with a proto (insert weapon name here). I go to null cannon (insert letter here). I engage the other teams' top player and...
He/she is teleporting back and forth and front and back. Can't get a shot on them and yet they do a miraculous amount of damage to me in a split second.
This scenario happens A TON!

Im glad someone posted about this because I see it maybe one out of every ten matches which isn't awful, but still annoying. One of the top weekly leaders in kills is a huge lagger, his k/d is like 24/1 . Your shots don't register, they skip around due to the lag which makes it impossible to do any real damage, yet they tear the heck up out of you.
It would be nice if ppl with poor connections only could play against others with similar connection speeds. |

Everybody teleports. The game has a horrible netcode.
Good players just tend to strafe correctly, which ends up showing the teleportation a lot more as directional input shifts rapidly.
If this game had a good frame rate you would be absolutely horrified at how bad the netcode actually is. (un)Fortunately, the games terrible frame rate masks this rather well. Anytime a players body shifts in an expected way suddenly and rapidly we just assume that a chunk of frames were dropped.
Not usually the case, though.
It's my fault FA exists. Direct your rage to me.

Best or worst, it becomes rather easy to dominate other players if you don't take damage. In very very very very very very very very very rare occasion my in internet is working well/bad and i see i have an advantage over other players (my hit register, hits on me don't) but it happens like a couple of time in a year. Some players are more lucky to live in a certain zone or have a certain connection and do this every time they play a game.
Situational awareness also known as passive scan.

Its not straffing. people like fusion commander run in a straight line head on at you. Why would he need to straf if he's adapted to never receiving damage.

When playing on the US server (I'm EU based btw) I get the feeling that people take a longer time to react to me shooting at them. Basically their reaction window to respond to me seems lower because of latency compensation. Similarly I seem to get instablapped by many different things while I am on the US server.
While on the EU server, and playing against other EU players, though I get the feeling that everyone has time to respond to what is happening, resulting in more fair engagements.
While forcing server selection to "automatic - lowest roundabout time" isn't a good solution, it is less jarring than poor gameplay (such as instablapping, being shot after you have moved into cover, etc.).

Well I just switched from AMERICA to AUTOMATIC. For some reason I'm only getting matched with Europeans A LOT. I guess I'm getting placed on the EU server.
