Originally from the Mass Effect trilogy, the Codex is like an encyclopedia that gives background information about things like alien species, planets, organizations and other things in the game. Adding a Codex into DUST 514 would immensely improve its NPE and keeps players better informed about everything in New Eden. It can contain information about New Eden history that includes events influenced by players, biographies, factions, weapons, equipment and everything else about the game. Having all of this in the game would be much more convenient than finding it on the internet.

It already exists but it's waiting to be filled out. Evelopedia ...the official wiki of New Eden. I am a big fan of the idea since I really like the lore of the New Eden setting. Trick is just getting it captured.
You could actually apply to the EVE ISD (Yulai division) that maintains the wiki and make that a serious project if it strikes your fancy.

Personally, I would love an addition like this. It doesn't have to include everything, but major events, groups, corporations, important people, important events and some of the more important technologies (like clones really) would be really nice to have for new bros and vets alike to have access to.
Basically just the important and critical stuff at first at least. Maybe build on to it as time passedps and things change.
 Please, make my Opus pretty...

I know Evelopedia exists, Jaysyn, but what I'm suggesting is for those that don't know. Its more likely that they wouldn't bother going to their computer to read up on the lore. |

Then I'm not sure what platform you are looking to provide the information on. Are you referring to something inside the game client itself?

The problem here is that adding pages of information to the PS3 UI tends to be fairly expensive on dev resources. In addition, a lot of the DUST-specific material would still need to be written. If it's in the game client, it then also has to be translated by the localization team into all the languages DUST is available in.
Meanwhile, people can just write stuff and throw it on the Internet easy.

While I am disappointed, I can't seem to argue against your logic. Oh, well, I can think of something else. |
