I honestly can't remember the last time I played in a good game of Dust. Every match is a stomp, but not even the stomps of old where the stompees would at least put up a bit of a fight. They just AFK or redline snipe. It is equally unsatisfying whether you're on the stomper team or the stompee team.
It's a sad situation since the actual balance of the weapons and suits is as good as it has been. CCP simply provide blueberries with no incentive to leave the redline if their team is losing. The game is designed so you hemorrhage ISK if you attack the points on a losing team, but get the big bucks for hiding back at the MCC. This makes no sense whatsoever from a lore perspective and is an atrocious design for an FPS. Such a waste when the core game is actually in a pretty good place.
Six months or a year ago you would OFTEN have games with players on the losing side with 20+ kills, and with most of the players within 50m of the point. The game was horribly balanced, but at least people played it. But now you never see more than three or four of the 'losing' team near the point, and typically no one has more than 10 kills on the losing side. Teams just give up they moment they go behind, if not before. If you're on the 'winning' team it is a struggle to find anyone to shoot at. The map is so empty, and games drag on forever. You sometimes used to have games like this, but not every single game (in Domination at least).
PS - I realize this is GD, so this thread will inevitably fill up with terrible players telling me about how I could be as great as them if only I did the moronic things they do...

I find it's only like 1 game per night, out of maybe 10 games.
I went 36-5 yesterday which was OK, it was domination, the objective flipped, they had a lot of heavies but everyone else on their team was in a MLT suit. I was in a <500hp lolfit which probably didn't help me dying.
Other than that we got redlined the next game, next game we redlined them and they camped on the roof.
I find skirmish to be unplayable due to the size of the map. You're right though dude, it's boring.

I seem to get decent matches every once in a while. Not to say I'm a good player, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth, but both teams are even.
Thing is, without any type of matchmaking, these games will happen often, the stomps, I mean. |

Agreed to a extent.
I rarely have good games anymore too. Most of them are stomps, I'd say 85 pushing 90% of my games now.
I agree, we don't get paid for trying; however, I don't believe CCP has this issue on their radar at the moment.
I do AFK when this happens. I'm not going to be paid for trying my ass off, I'm still going to get that lousy ass payment of 145k, with 1K WP on my team. Why? Oh enemy team got way more or someone boosted on both teams.
No, we do not get paid a lot of AFK-ing. Normally you average 98k - 110k, which is **** poor nothing but at least something.
I'd rather AFK and get paid ****, than get stomped and frustrated while getting paid **** in return.

weapons need more range all of them. 6 man squad can cover and see over 100 m easily and effective gun range is less than that. its a game of brute force with little tactics all about who can tank more hp and deal more dps, I wish this game had more of a rock paper scissors feel to it.

yeh it's rare, I'm grateful for it but it was the only game of the night like that.
I had i think a 24-1 game as the last game of the night, it wasn't fun, just farming, decided to turn off the system so I would leave on a slightly good note, i have to end on a good game.

I play solo most of the time and to be honest is not only the new players that dont have incentive to leave the redline....

So as a veteran in Dust514, that can use Proto gear, Pushing and droping uplinks could lead to the blues appearing at the uplinks and following me. But now... even if i drop 5 uplinks and stay near them so that reds wont spawn camp my scrubs, the blues wont appear. Its just me there, sitting by the uplinks, Polishing my SCR/RR....waiting to be found by a squad of scouts....and being done in by them.
and in Faction war, its even worse. Because no matter how much WP you get. How many f**** you kill and how much you hacked, in the end, you will get 200LP.
2 0 0 LP.
Pushing alone. in Pubs, in FW. Training noobs. Giving them money for skillbooks.... I went from 150 million to 800.000 ISK.
So please. Dont be too hard on me if after 2-5 deaths i start sniping behind the redline....(and ask for you isk XD)

I'm largely done with Dust because of the pathetic nature of this playerbase.
Instead of raising payouts to incentivize effort and lowering payouts for lack of effort we just get boring matches. I'm tired of it.
I've found the only way to get any enjoyment out of Dust is to find a group of noobs in squad finder to squad with. You piggy back of their crappy MU so you aren't matched against good players with a bunch of window lickers on your team.

Yep, you used to be able to drop some links and coax the blues into pushing. This doesn't help anymore.
Probably because of the jackasses that put out all the high uplinks that lead to the blues getting farmed as they jump down. Again, ****** playerbase using gimmicks to get WP without actually participating in the FPS.

It's because of the officer event. Ambush has been extremely horrid the last few days. Usually I can play with no squad and do well, but lately the other team consists of two proto squads being extreme tryhards with officer weapons.

You people are trying to vanilla this game up like COD or BF while taking and knocking every aspect of strategic game play out of this .

I stopped playing skirmishes a while ago.
Sometimes, when I haven't seen a blueberry in a while, I check the map only to notice that there are merely 3-5 blues in the active area of the map, the rest scattered across the redline or on the spawnscreen. There seriously are situations where there are more objectives than active players.
Domination matches seem to work better. If there aren't too many uplinks it's possible for the blues to stick together even if they are losing.
Maybe reduce the frequency of 4-5 point maps for skirmish? 3 objectives is already quite a stretch with 16 players. |

If we play with more than three we always stomp the enemy, but when you play with just two sure you might lose, but the matches are fun and challenging.

I like skirmish better than domination by a LONG shot.
I have more 8-7 domination matches that my team won with 95% shields remaining on the MCC than I want to recall. The dude that's been on the railguns installation all match and someone finally walks by the 15 degree window of the battlefield it covers kills you. The two or three blaster tanks that show up at the point get you once or twice before people bring out AV. Then the snipers get you a couple times. Throw in the one or two scouts in the beginning that get you while hacking or something.
I guess maybe because I'm all Min suits so I like brawling. I like a hard fight. I don't mind dying during a good match. It's just reached a point where I am frustrated more than I have fun in pubs. I can't really do PC because of the times and the FW syncs even get old when it's 15 straight redline wins.
I must just be a beyond bitter vet, but the game feels so much different to me now. Not from a balance or poor design standpoint. I think there are just too many players not paying attention to the objectives.

Like one poster said, it seems like there are just 3 or 4 people that still give an effort after being redlined.
What really sucks is that means you now are taking on entire squads by yourself when you do try. Try to hack an objective? You get a squad of LAV running right to you to undo what you just did and looking for you.
Not a fun fight. Not even close. It is no wonder people redline. Just make it worth my time for trying.

Apparently there is scotty and Mu used to aid match making, I think it is not helping and they should trial getting rid of it, Things can only get better,
I do find this frustrating because I really Like a balanced game of dust. |

It would be a good start to stop putting squads of 6 veterans into a match against 16 randoms.
Searching for a match would take longer, but I don't care. Wanna protostomp with your mates? Gonna have to wait until a squad of equal strength queues up for the enemy team.
Or maybe, MAYBE we should go back to a squad size of 4, at least for pub matches.

I used to love Dom but it is my least favorite now. The maps are too small and spawns too close, it is like a bad version of Ambush and one side gets redlined before their whole team has even spawned in.
Something has changed because right after the hotfix matchmaking changes there was a marked improvement in matches, now there is a marked worsening. Why are people so unwilling to try now? I am like Checkmate in that I used to keep trying to win, no matter what, but lately even if I hack the objective, drop links and wait for my teammates, most of the time all I get is a face full of heavies running back to stop my hack while I can see the blues on the map doing nothing. If we simply reward wins more, all that happens is protostomping get worse, look at FW. If we reward high leaderboard scores, good players get rewarded while new players have even less incentive to try. I think ISK payouts should increase, but will that be enough?
Because, that's why.
