You mean like people who start threads asking rhetorical questions because they can't remember what a dev said and when?
Yeah, I know what you mean.

Technically, the more things a game IS doing and CAN be doing, will slow it down because it has to read more code and do math. If there's a lot of things going on, it will get slower (maybe not at a snail's pace, but slower than it would be if there was a single player on a single team playing Ambush).
It, also, depends on player connections, but everyone knows that.
There are tricks to making things "faster" by changing a bit of code around, but sometimes, you may "manage to somehow fuck it up." |

More things to render, more animations to play, and more sounds to mix = worse performance. It really isn't that hard to understand. So, yeah, I know what you mean. i spesifically recall that post about a dev (rattati i believe) stating that there was no correlation between lag and equipment, but this was quite the time ago..
maybe they either A. found evidence to the contrary. B. caveing in to whiners who are jealous of logisuits and their WP.
and iv not see any of this "sentinels dropping equipment on a logi suit so they can be stand alone slayers" a swift flux or MD or flay round deals with equipment no problem so idk why people are soo butthurt about equipment

It causes lag and creates performance issues. It's a known tactic to disrupt your opponents while favoring those with very fast connections and SSD's to compensate.
End of discussion.
Hopefully the Bandwidth concept will limit its effects should it come to the game. Talk of equipment spams correlation to lag being a myth is just panicked talk from those using it to their advantage realising that they might actually have to get good and not rely on exploits......

they better let us play around with the new orbitals first to see if that makes a differances to the lag because of all the SOLO orbitals being dropped, if it dosnt make too much differance (like 50% to 75% differance) then i will yeald with my stance against bandwidth.. untill then bandwidth can GTFO of DUST.

Bandwith is gonna blow, but anyway, equipment spam causes framerate problems not lag. If the game was properly optimised or put on a stronger console it wouldn't be as much of a problem if at all. |

Bandwith won't change anything, it will just spread the spam over more players.
The most annoying with the spam is the soundstorm in a pile of nanohives, which prevents the detection of cloakers and dropped REs.
Spammers are actually working for the enemy Team! Also Droplinks in a position where a Heavy can't get out... But that's an entire different story.
Vote for EQ kost if changed at depot!

Perhaps not network lag but it certainly affects memory. Each piece of equipment has its own visuals and sound effects and spot on your minimap and your passive scans.

There might be a slight correlation to equipment spam. BUT your PS3s overheating CPU and GPU is what is causing framerate drops with a high probability.
I noticed a huge difference by replacing thermal paste in my system at least.

Where i should put my trust? CCP told there is no lag by that. Community talks otherwise. Ergo i do not care too much, i still have fun. Major lag is still from other issues for sure ;p

If you're a logi I can't take you serious?! We don't need so many nanohives that we can't tell where to spawn! Stop the madness you'll get your stinking warpoints you wh*re lol!
Seriously don't know the answer to your question, but whether it does or doesn't isn't the issue. If it does they need to fix it. If it doesn't it's still annoying to see 13 links around the point so some nut job gets +25?! They gave you the infinite rep tool be happy with that!
The spam is useless, and is usually uselessly placed?! If nothing else atleast be strategic, and place a few in different areas!
