Which genre, be it in any form of media, do you prefer out of the two choices mentioned? What are your likes and dislikes about each genre? |

Fantasy, I'm a long time D&D player and DM.
Actually kinda want to start up a new online group, but finding people who'll be around at the same time and want to play is a problem.
I find science is a problem with SciFi and edition wars are a problem with d&d

I like both so much... You can't make me decide. I can't.
I guess I would have to decide on a lore by lore basis.
Please, make my Opus pretty...

Why not both? ;P
I tend to go much further towards fantasy, though.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

SciFi. Ttrpgs like eclipse phase are awesome. I get tired of the Ame dudes in metal suits going Gordon freeman on eachother. I make exceptions for non mideval European settings tho, in those cases u tend to be more on board. |

Sci Fi, of which my favourite is Hard Sci Fi. Still like the others though. Within Fantasy I prefer High Fantasy. Not really a fan of Low Fantasy.

Agreed.
The Federation is not a defined region of space, of planets, of mountains, rivers, or woods. It is a vision.

Low fantasy can be good. I loved Super Natural......
High Fanasty though is my kind of narrative. I just love the creativity to it all.

Sci-Fi.
I like the idea of possibility of SOMEONE SOMEDAY do the **** in the game or book. That and the crap they pull can be explained easily. Undiscovered science! Fixes everything! How do you get across the galaxy in .2 seconds? SCIENCE! RARR!
Me and some friends meet and play DnD weekly, and I'm thinking of trying s session w/ Traveller or GURPS Space.
Suggestions, my friendly neighborhood Locker Room? Which is easier to run?

I grew up with fantasy, mostly Ad&d books since we played it so much. Nowadays I like my sci-fi more. I guess I just associate fantasy as aimed at 'younger audience', and sci-fi as more mature.
