Why? PS2? Ace, PS2 is for PS4 not PS3.
It will decrease, but that will leave those who are loyal to this game and those too cheap to buy a PS4.
I fit both categories.

Because like a lot of last-gen games, when everyone gets their opportunity to get the next-gen console, the population on the older hardware starts to die off.
Let's face it, even if DUST 514 is surviving, the platform it's on is dying.
I for one, am selling my PS3 as soon as I get my PS4. I'll help you gentlemen from the skies, though.

PS3 is not dying, it still sells well from a month to month basis.
There's still a lot of games that are PS3 exclusives. And more to come.
CCP had the right idea when they put it on PS3 hoping PS4 would stop people from 'buying into' the PS3 and it's games, so the free to play game, Dust, seems all the more appealing.
The poor mans game on the poor mans system, *PS3 is cheaper then xbox360 for double the memory* |

Idk, I'm probably just being terribly pessimistic because most of the people that I loved playing with have left this game and moved on to PS4 or PC, and I see a lot of other people doing the same. There's no potential for PC anymore, so the hardcore end-game aspect is kind of demolished. Pubs are either a stomp, or getting stomped. Not much in between.
Game died on fanfest, and it will probably only get worse.

I know what you mean, PS3 felt very dead when the majority of my friends list vanished for PS4 *We can't see when people are on PS4 from PS3*
Then I log on PS4 - bam, over 100 people on, lol.
But the PS3 is still a steadily sold console, it's not actually dying. It's just our side of the PS3 world is :( |

The post-fanfest and Destiny predictions were pretty accurate.
Whole alliances went dark after fanfest, and a lot of corps dropped after Destiny.
I'll predict a couple more corps will go silent after Christmas.

lol no they were not.
I was told many times that most people will leave for destiny, which was true for about.... a week or two. Then 90% of the people who were part of the destiny super hype have no returned because destiny is not what they thought it would me...
But dust has kept a lot of its numbers still.

Maybe when some more content comes out for the ps4 and it gets a price drop.
There are a lot of people who won't buy a ps4 for a long time.
Until they shut down the ps3 servers, it's going to be active.

My prediction is the player count will remain fairly constant until the switch is turned off.

There are quite a number of large markets available - especially for a f2p game - that do not utilise the newest tech.

In so far our largest loss of population to date; has not been attributed to a single or even multiple game launches.
It has been attributed to CCP itself.

Whenever companies stop developing games for the ps3 also then you can say the ps3 is dead but until then it's alive but slowly dying for sure.
I've switched to PC Gaming and only have my ps3 around for Dust514, it's been surprisingly worth keeping cuz of the 1.9 patch even though I still barely play. I guess I'll keep it around till they shut down the servers for Dust 514.
Should Legion be on the ps4?

I mean, let's be honest here, most people who have PS4s are already playing PS4 games; and people who would have had the most interest in Planetside have already played it on PC.
They only players Dust will lose are players who both have a PS4 but aren't playing other games with it, and have an interest in PS2 but didn't try it out on PC.
And of those players, half of those won't like PS2 and will come back.
That's kind of insignificant.
