It was good for a bit. But now it is as bad as ever.
Here's why:
Squads leaving when they see another squad on the other team. Total stomp ensues.
One side has a squad of proto stuff. The other doesn't have proto. Can't compete. Total stomp ensues.
One side has infinite isk. Full 100% proto and just keeps it coming. Total stomp ensues.
I can't imagine what its like for new players. Can't kill that 1500hp heavy that's being repped becaue that shotgun to the back of the head and that missile tank you barely scratched with your swarm launcher killed you just before some shimmer launched an exploding Frisbee at you...
I'm going to stop until this game improves. Its just not fun for either side. |

you summed up the game nicely.. atleast pub matches shouldnt be a complete stomp and Mu just isnt balancing matches and scotty is takeing backhands so proto scrubs can feel good about themselves when they stop a tam of MLT newbros

The primary flaw is that k/d and w/l are factors in the matchmaking process.
The better matchmaking works the more players become equalized on those numbers and the less information matchmaking has to go on.
Match 1 up against easy team several kills no deaths, quick win.
MU goes up
Match 2 get redlined cause MU says you are awesome get no kills, 3 deaths, quick loss.
MU goes down
Return to match 1. |

MU is good only for random vs random, it's like there is no multiplier (or not high enough for squads), squad should have a multiplier depending on different things (same corp, number of squad), comms should also add points to the multiplier (but i think it's impossible to do, so we must presume that all squad are on comms).
Something like (random numbers): 2 in squad: mu * 1.2 3 in squad: mu * 1.4 4 in squad: mu * 1.8 5 in squad: mu * 2 6 in squad: mu * 2.5
same corp: add 0.3

Yes, that's good and essential. And that's why squad multiplier is already in use in some form.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

This is the primary reason that I can't play right now, coupled with a few other things.
I think I could handle some of the other frustrations if matches were more even, but I had 1 really good game since Mu was put in place.
I don't think I can play regularly until it gets fixed.

Wierd since Mu is here i had the most balanced matches. I know sometimes its "little" broken, but still better than protostomp what i remember before ;)

Corps are squading up more because they can't run solo proto with the matchmaker in place, and stomp like before. Squads of proto stompers will destroy any team because all they have to do is gun down your blues on your team?! If you have a full squad in you're squad is on their own because your blues see the proto stomp coming and report to the redline?! They don't want anything to do with it, and rightfully so!
Also, for smaller corps going proto is a waste of isk, and if you haven't been playing since close beta (I.e. robbing corps, farming, etc.) Then that isk doesn't come easy. It's often better to just do what you can in the bpos, know that it's just a pub match, and take your measly 200k to the bank?!

I didn't want to create a thread about it and get banned for the 4th time so I'm glad somebody else beat me to it. Going to be hard not to break out into nerd rage though.
We all know that 1.9 broke the hotfixes, supposedly, they were re-implemented, but were they? I don't see any team balancing, when the team balancing hotfix was deployed I noticed a great difference, maybe now people's MU have been adjusted and the formula for team balancing also needs to be adjusted.
With that being said the game is now back to being a redline either way and is borderline unplayable, I am constantly coming up against 2 squads solo and quite frankly am sick to death of complaining about the same thing over and over again so for a lot of people, it's just time to quit.
Player counts don't lie CCP, I know the player counts is so low now that there is little that can be done, but it's a case of too little too late, why have you allowed randoms to get stomped on by 2 squads all this time? If this was done earlier, we wouldn't have this problem.

I don't think people understand that it takes a pretty large playerbase to have a decent matchmaking system.
DUST doesn't have that, and I doubt you'll find any games similar with a "great" matchmaking system.

Now it is like they are all just bad matches.
All within the same game, unless the player base took a dramatic dive coincidentally just when Mu arrived.

I agree the matches have been worse, particularly Dom matches. Player behavior gas a lot to do with it. Squads leaving when they see another squad is one example, but I've been in a lot of matches where a team is being redlined even though they have more clones left. Why is that? I don't know. I know I don't push as hard as I used too. Once the writing is on the wall I start hanging out at the fringes.
Because, that's why.
