Some of you who have been on the forums a bit probably remember me and my raging about not having respecs. And yes, in 1.9 we got respecs. And I did spend my hard-earned underage McDonalds money to get one. When I heard about respecs in the patch notes, I nearly s*** my self in joy. You guys said it would cost aurum, which is completely understandable. But you said players could get as many as they wanted. You said they were unlimited. I thought this meant you bought it for $20 bucks and you could respec 10000000000000 times. But no, you meant you had to BUY respecs every time you want one. I really think it was pretty nasty of you (ccp) to word it this way. Thanks. |

What made you think that CCP would allow you to make a one-time purchase to respec as often as you like? That kind of system would allow players to change their SP around after every match if they wanted... it's asinine.
Looking at it from a business perspective, a one-time purchase system means you opt out of all future respecs (purchases) from that player for the duration of their time playing your game.

they made is 20$ PER respec to stop FOTM being abused by those who have the disposable income to do as such

Maybe now, but you know they had no intention of adding Respecs of any kind not too long ago.
I'm not saying we will definitely see a respec BPO on the market. But it wouldn't surprise me if we did.
It would probably cost 500,000 AUR, 1 million loyalty points, and according to CCP, be directed at new players.

I think that this is more a product of your age (no offense) as the older crowd understood this. It was assumed everyone would, and I think expecting unlimited respecs for a single price is an unrealistic expectation.

But really, unlimited respecs are stupid, like....really stupid. Once you reach the SP threshold of 35ish million SP, you're completely maxed into a single role, additional SP at that point only buys you flexibility. Unlimited respecs means that after that threshold there is zero reason to ever earn SP again because you can simply swap roles whenever you want.

I feel great now having supported the game, even if I did respec only on 1 out of my 4 characters. DUST is coming together, it's still frustrating but is better now than it's ever been (for me). And yes I respecced to put 20m SP into gallente scout, because it's fun
A respec is only really meant to be a one-time thing, it's not meant to be an option because you're not resetting something small and simple, it's years of work. It's like bending the rules and slipping somebody a bit of money.
With the release of 1.9 I know see that they are dedicated to working on improving DUST beyond hotfixes and are actually going to add things to the game, I'll pay for that happily. Actual progression is what warranted me spending my money, which was the only time I have ever spent money on this game.
There is no way you could respec and respec and respec, that would be ridiculous, it's also ridiculous to think that CCP would operate in that way, I really don't think you read it properly and don't have a right to complain. This is the kind of thing which you should only spend money on if, you will never miss that money.

Even I as a long time free respec supporter think that unlimited, no penalty respecs are dumb.
I used my respec to take my 38 millionSP and dump them all into vehicles :) running infatry with 0 SP is, uhhh...interesting
