I've noticed this more in corp contracts, basically three or four guys on a team suiciding anywhere from 7 to 12 times within the first few minutes of a match. One match I was in fighting for State Peacekeepers saw our team lose 40 clones within the first four minutes of battle to a group of four players continually suiciding, respawning then suiciding again.
Ultimately the match became ridiculous, playing 12 vs. 16, and we ran out of clones twice as fast as any other match I've been in. I am aware that damage done to your own team players is tracked, I propose there be an automatic kick for any player after their 3rd suicide. I added as contacts the players that were suiciding so as to avoid playing with them in the future. |

EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

I've been offered 1m Isk per match to suicide while fighting for the Caldari.
I can't tell you who is offering me this contract. Sorry, confidentiality clauses (you know).
Do you have a counter offer or shall I commence butchering myself in the name of the State?

This is a variation of the AWOX tactic: "In EVE Online, a hysterically bad short-term spy who joins your corp as an agent of a hostile corp. His intent is to kill your corp's PvEers, or otherwise sow as much havoc and distrust as possible before being kicked from your corp a few days later."
This is New Eden; a big, messy sandbox universe. Players are allowed/encouraged to betray, **** over, and otherwise be dicks to one another.
My advice to you, playa...

I jumped into a match one time where a squad was repeatedly committing suicide in order to drive down the clone count. I remember the name of the Corporation they were in was "Suicide Kings" or something dealing with "suicide". These people did not commit suicide 2 or 3 times though; they did it repeatedly in order to sabotage the match, this was a Public Match by the way. |

I do agree that there should be SOME recourse for a player to stop the sabotaging, however. In EVE, as someone stated earlier, you can kick out an AWOXer in a few days once you realize that his or her only intent is to sow chaos. This is generally balanced by the fact that EVE players get to decide who comes into their corps. It is also generally balanced in PC matches.
In a public FW match however, why should you have no option but to suffer and lose once you recognize someone is sabotaging?

Nice thread! Kudos for raising this.
ItGÇÖs a difficult subject. We know the New Eden/ EVE game environment is heavily about deception, double-dealing, infiltration and betrayal---I RESPECT that as part of the EVE / Dust player social interaction and alliance-building.
But when it's being done in a match where we're really just fighting in the service of an automatic client (the NPC corps in FW), and not a real-stakes in the real-EVE match, maybe we shouldnGÇÖt accept it as just the regular, allowable AWOXing or deceiving.
If an activity makes player tactics and interaction difficult during gameplay, then oh-well, thatGÇÖs EVE and IGÇÖll take the lumps. But if an activity makes the GAMEPLAY itself difficult, then it pushes players away from the matches and injures the game (not simply injuring an opponent as part of the game).
If a suicide agreement was contracted as part of a Merc-Capsuleer scheme to defeat a merc assault on a district, okGÇögood for them and their deviousness. But if its allowed in simple Pub Matches and NPC Factional matches, BAD for everybody!
The author is right . We need to make some kind of distinction, and hopefully CCP can maybe institute a penalty that will allow it in PC play, but protects Pubs and FW gameplay.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

I disagree, it should be an option in FW as well as PC.
Pubs, w/e, but the other two it should be a valid tactic.

The reason these sorts of tactics can be allowed in EVE, but need to be regulated in DUST, is that players in DUST have no control over what people get put into a match with them, and they cannot recruit additional forces to help them in an engagement. As long as DUST is a 16v16 shooter with matchmaking building the table, exploiters do need to be handled.
if you see this behavior, report the name of the player, the time of the match, and any details in a help ticket. GMs will decide whether or not to take action.

Has CCP changed its stance on New Eden's core principles?

The first paragraph is my personal opinion, I should clarify.
The second paragraph is my recommendation, as CCP will or will not act based on whatever mood the GM in question is in that day. (Or what their policies actually are, more than likely.)

It seems to me that IYO, you think emergent gameplay should be punished.
Either punish all metas equally or none at all.

Well, if you see me in a Amarr match, feel free to hunt me down. Otherwise I'll hunt your uplinks and equipment. If somebody shoots me I'll go for a kill.
The only time that I shoot an enemy in a Battle for the Amarr is when a pesky enemy vehicle tries to kill me, it has to go down.

Just keep the number of allowable Suicides high enough to account for people who spawn in walls due to badly placed uplinks.
.. and for Senitnels who spawn on roof uplinks and then can't jump over the rail to get down.

So you're saying that there should be a limit of 151 suicides per player per match?
