 How about to create a better balance and reduce heavy spam due to the naturally higher defense by changing the amount of armor or shields to better shield recharge and better suit based armor repping?
 
 This way the heavy would benefit better from fast recoup between attacks rather than just walk around tanking damage while being attacked. This would effectively nerf the HMG without having to actually nerf it merely because the heavy can't just stand there firing the thing forever and a day.
 
 So, therefore the heavy wouldn't be stronger, but simply different in how it is utilized.

 remove explosive resistance.. Done. sentinels are now "balanced"

 Sentinel imbalance is purely down to them being shoved into CQC dominance where none of the weaknesses of heavy suits actually matter. It was a decision that CCP made because closed beta players wanted heavies to be the equivalent of free kills.
 
 Throughout most of Chrome (IE, late open beta) heavies were, in fact, free kills. Heavies are no longer free kills, but instead occupy the opposite end of the spectrum- they are so powerful that they are spammed everywhere.
 
 This post by Breakin Stuff offers what is, IMO, the best possible solution to the problem. It also removes the complaint of splash damage resist (which is NOT explosive resist), since heavies will no longer be the dominant force for holding down a point.
 
 Bonus points for CQC GalSalt actually becoming a thing too.

 that sounds like a good idea , but I don't nesisarily use heavys. if that were added id probably use them.
