The ability to choose from one of 12 portraits (one of each racial frame) that are displayed upon login, in game channels and score boards, and on the forums? CCP already has the portraits for all the mediums obviously and before Uprising we used to have a portrait for the Amarr heavy and Gallente light. So 6/12 right there, half way. As far as the log in screen, it used to be all the mediums and now it's all the lights, so an even better 8/12. Seems the issue is more so coding in the option for us to choose.
And how much more important, if at all, would it be such that these portraits are chosen by favoriting a suit and the portrait accurately displaying the sun in that frame?
I'm all for spending development time on the core shooter, but Dust is more than just a shooter. Also something something the devs who work on this aren't the devs who work on that something something.
So the question: Does any of this even matter to you?

We can't have custom Avatars like EVE does. It's the least they could do.

Does it matter to me? Not at all.
Should it be in the game? That is a different question. Yes, there should be different avatars based either on your favorited suit or one you pick.

Though, its not important. CCP can get around to it at their leisure.
