I hate adjusting constantly. I can't find a playstyle i can create my own. I cant run ADV gear and make a profit.
The only successfull players are the FOTM bastards and good players the rest are... i dont know.

Hey, it's better to never have had it than to have had it and lost it.
I used to have great gun game (from Quake up to CS) but then I stopped playing online for a long time and I just ain't found that groove I had then. I pretty much expect to have my ass handed to me when I queue up for a match now-a-days and it works out that way often enough.
I'm surprised Maynard hasn't been assassinated yet.

I watch so many good players on various games and just wonder how do you get to that point.

It's why tankers can't be nerfed. Do whatever you want to the hulls, turrets and mods, you can't nerf the person using them.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

It depends on what you play of course, anyone that has to rely on quick movements will have to have more than strategy. If you're in a role that doesn't require fast reactions then you are not at a disadvantage by not having them.
Like Green said, playing shooters isn't like riding a bike. You do forget and do get worse by not practicing. As you age you also get worse. That's just the way it is. A lot like most sports now that I think about it.

I'm sad I never got to pilot the Surya or Sagaris, because I didn't have the SP needed to go into them before Uprising dropped. Uprising 1.0 wasn't too bad, though I was really pissed about the PG skill being nerfed. I was able to take on two at a time and win, because experience. 1.7 was great too, because again, experience. Now that it's so simplified, you think it would be easier, but no, now anybody can get a Gunnlogi, put a MLT rail on it, and really be a pain in the butt even though they don't have much of a clue as to what they're doing.

First of all, you deserve some credit for being so honest and raw. A lot of this forum is chest pounding and epeen stroking, and you aren't putting up a false front (unless this is a TRULY dastardly troll).
I'm not especially good at this game. I've played it a lot, and I've learned a lot that's helped me improve, but I don't have impressive FPS skills. But I pass time at work on these forums nearly every day. I catch myself thinking about modules and fits while I'm running errands or working around the house. I wish I was better, too, but I still manage to find the fun in this game. Sure, some nights I slam the controller into my coffee table and have to pour an extra beer to calm myself down. Sure, some nights I startle my girlfriend from across the house yelling "COME ON!!! A BOLT PISTOL AT 107 METERS!?" There are people that I've had the pleasure of playing with (and more I've had the misfortune of playing against) that blow my mind with what they can do in Dust. But I always try to learn from my deaths. This game gives you a depth of customization unlike any other FPS, and that's the key. I may not be able to out aim, strafe, or twitch you. But with I may be able to out fit you, and play to that fit's strengths, and manage to hold my own.
Hang in there.
Dust can be frustrating. (Gò»°Gûí°)Gò»n+¦ Gö+GöüGö+)

Mainly it is practice, and to only play ONE FPS game because the sensitivity varies. I use to be happy going 5/7, but now if i don't have a KD of 10 or more than i suck. Play just dust and only dust to 'git gud'
And for the love of god don't run pointless fit such as a nova-knife heavy or melee scout (although it works it is only for the skilled, and i SUCK at using it!)

I really have to disagree; it's sucks knowing I was way better before. Me playing an FPS is about as embarrassing as walking into a glass door right after I fcking closed it (don't judge). A lot of times I'll be shooting like a half inch to inch away from people and I'll think to myself that I need to aim over but no, by god it's time to shoot at air.
Then I get annoyed when I make top 6 because that shouldn't happen and I know it; at least if I was never good I could get excited about that.

I know I point this out a lot but.... says the guy that has been getting killed by militia swarms since... forever it seems. Even after their damage was nerfed and tanks had demigod mode hardeners.

Exactly, Dust isnt exactly a competitive game (compared to Quake and CS previously mentioned in the thread). You either try to have fun or you dont play. :)

What exactly is your complaint?
You can't aim? You die too much? You don't make enough ISK per match? You want to rock out in some MLT fittings but have hit a wall? You cower when you hear gunfire near you?
Hit me up in game if you want some pointers in MLT fittings. I do alright and can share what I've learned with you.

SSD Modded controller ???? Profit
I dunno man. There is one thing you shouldn't do, which is to make you enemies bigger than what they are.
Keep a "if it bleeds I can kill it" mentality.
There are some players that, I have no clue how they deal so much damage so quickly, run so fast, or evade so well. I've 1 v 1'd people that barely let me scratch them. I rage sure. I get over it quickly and, yes, I get tunnel vision sometimes until I hunt down the perpetrator and make for damn sure that the player is killable.
If I see a heavy hitter on the other side I make a point to test their metal. I fail those test a lot, and it's because there's always someone better, or someone having a better day than you. It happens. Take a break, smoke a cigarette and give it five minutes. |

I've played against you in a lot of matches and you were a great scout sneaking around people to kill me. You were running in basic Min scout and u were going about 30/4. When 1.9 got released I had a hard time aswell. Just play with a squad and everything should go well.

DUST isn't a game of skill. Its about tactics and flavor. I'll teach you how to win every single match.
Ambush: 1.Stick with your team. 2. Play at range, don't move. 3. Wait 20-30 seconds to spawn, especially if trapped in a spawn camp.
Domination: 1. Secure and fortify high ground before worrying about actual objective. 2. Spam links
Skirmish: 1. Place uplinks on every high structure on entire map to have access to any objective instantly. 2. Never over extend capture points
Factional: 1. Quick sync with another squad 2. Use above skirmish tactics.
There, you just beat the game. DUST is simplistic and dull actually. The only way to lose is for CCP to decide who wins the match before hand; lag/latency and broken match making.

I am wildly inconsistent even from match to match. Some times I am a dead on killing machine then just a match later I can't hit the broad side of a barn. I've played FPS's since the early days of CS and while I've diminished some over the years Dust is the only one I've ever been this inconsistent with. I suspect it might be the availability of all the different roles I play. I never stay with one weapon/fit for long enough to master it.
Your game f'ing sucks, but I'll still play it, damn you! Turns out I wont.
