Hey everyone. I've decided that since I've got all my cores to 5 and all my shield modules to 5 that I should go into the assault ck.0 as my next proto suit. That 600+ shields reping over 50/s with minimal delay is awesome.
The problem is that I really dislike using the rr. I can't get used to the charge up, I find it difficult to aim inside of 70m and in cqc it is less than useless. I keep telling myelf it will come but when compared to the scr and cr it just feels like a bad gun for assaulting.
I feel it would be a waste to go assault ck.0 and not use a railgun type weapon but I like the surviveability in long ranges that suit will have.
I'm not sure if I should scrub through the rr rust or if I should just abandon the cal assault for something else. I currently have proto amarr commando and sentinel. Should I go with the proto cal assault or spec into the amarr assault. I do love them laz()rz...

You could do a hybrid fit we all know how op the CR is or the LR is a pretty good choice since all that attention along with great uptime would be nice the reload time for the other weapons don't seem as long so no real loss in doing so.

The best part about either the Caldari or Gallente Assaults is that since their bonuses are horrible, you are able to use any weapon you want.
Wait, I think that's the worst part.

yes the assault suit needs the 50/sec rep and it needs the regen delay to go from 5'6 to 3/4 or 2/3 along with a regulator bonus.
and the gal suit needs a hearty repairer bonus.
both cal and gal need new weapons bonuses that apply to all hybrids. so cal can use shotguns with the bonuses and gal can use rails/snipers with their bonuses.

I'm a stickler for synergy but the weapon bonus is weak. I'm not sure what weapon would compliment the suit best, I'm thinking long ramge ie scr but I just dont know. I feel like trying to get in close in this suit is a bad idea and that distance is your friend. This pretty much rules out anything except the rr and scr. Can't see myself slaying much with a lazor wepon unless I get good with that bolt pistol I'm prof 3 in..

Since you don't like the RR, but you still need a decent ranged weapon with good synergy, try this:
3x Complex Shields 2x Complex Energizers
2x Complex Regulators 1x Complex CPU Mod
Duvolle Tactical AR : 90m effective range : +10/-10 Kaalakiota Magsec : 63m effective range: -10/+10 Core Locus OR Allotek Flux
Ishukone Gauaged Nanohive
Stats: 522 shields 194 Armor
86.5 shield regen a second 2 second delay 3 second depleted
First off WOW that 86.5 shield regen a second. To drive home how awesome this regen is, look at this:
Lets say you take 400 damage, and you have 120 shields left. You've killed the guy, and start moving to the next objective.
You have full health in 6.5 seconds. Ultimate skirmisher fit. Hell, you can fully break shields and you will still fully regen in 8 seconds FLAT.
If you sit back at range on those hives, you can ping people all day with that AR and be self sufficient, both in ammo and health (Since the bulk of your HP is rapidly regenerating). The Magsec backs you up, with decent range and CQC viability, and it deals -10/+10, which perfectly compliments your AR.
Hope that helps.

If you know how to use cover, try this:
1 K-2 Nanohive
1 Complex CPU Upgrade 2 Complex Shield Regulators
2/3 Complex Shield Extenders 3/2 Complex Shield Energizers
1 Boundless Combat Rifle 1 Viziam Scrambler Pistol
1 Core Locus Grenade/Allotek Flux Grenade
Now if you are playing the 3-objective Manus Peak then i would use 3 extenders and 2 energizers since there is less cover...i use up to 4 energizers for THIS reason:
Assault ck.0 vs Assault gk.0
He is an armor stacking beast at 1100 armor but slow as hell (or not, either works) we face off cqc, and i have far to low HP but i regen in 2.4 seconds or near if i retreat long enough. So we cqc, i hide and he hides as well to reload his clip. My recharge bonus means i have to run away and NOT get hit for just that extra second and then we can start cqc'ing again. This time he has 550 armor instead of the 1100 he started with but regens at 15hp/second. I have my 350 shield back and 80 armor left. We CQC again, he is left at 100 armor and 180 shield whereas i am left at 60 armor 0 shield. I run and hide for 3 seconds since i am a shield tanker and suffer no speed penalties unlike this assault. I regen fully at 350 and he has **** all. can keep doing this over and over but he cannot so i kill him.
Scenario 2: Same cqc takes place but he is a rep tanker at 30/second. By the time i regen fully he has 90+ armor and is at 380 armor and 180 shield i am at 350 shield and 100 armor, and cannot run/hide since he will catch up to me, but i don't need to. We cqc a second time and i melt him

I don't really thing a AR limiting yourself to that range means any AR user will eat you and you will be out ranged by laser weapons.

I think the ARR is the only functional one ATM unless you spend the whole game feathering the trigger to half charge in anticipation of sudden red dot eruption.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

Try Ghost Kaisar fit with an ARR and a SMG, it should work great ;) And you use your bonus!

You are using a Cal Assault. Your movements should be to remain AT-RANGE, and maintain a perimeter on the enemy. If you happen to be up close, with tight corridors, do a lot of hit and run. Shoot, kill, retreat, to let the shields recover.
If you don't like the RR. Try the Tactical Assault Rifle. Putting on a damage mod or two, will help against armor tanked enemies. You will lose some shield tank, but you should be at a distance.
If you stick with the TAR and master it, it will reward you.
You could also try the Burst Assault Rifle. Higher damage and rof than the regular AR last I checked. But be fast with the trigger.
You could also try the Scrambler Rifle, at range, carefully placed charged shots with follow up shots, is rewarding. But you wont be using the SCR at its best on a Cal suit... no Amarr laser bonuses.
Set your goals high, and shoot for the moon; even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.

b/c you need to use this suit at range it kinda feels like I would just have to get used to the rr to utilize the suit best. scr is best used on an amarr which i already have the commando ak.0. Using the ar puts me at a significant range disadvantage to laz()rz which will melt my face off and doesn't give me an advantage over armor tank ar's. I suppose using hit and run tactics with the TAR could work but I would need to play it safe alot of the time.
