CCP Rattati,
Currently, the system for earning Rank Points is heavily skewed in the direction of Aurum, as has been mentioned previously. While I disagree with the current set up, I would like to use the current situation to offer another high reward method of earning RP while helping the game at large.
I would like one of the ranks (Perhaps the "Captain" rank) to unlock the option to create a "Training Squad" in the squad finder tool. The purpose of this squad would be for older, more experienced players to show younger players the ropes of the game. The incentive for making this squad would be the following:
- As the squad leader of a "Training squad", you (the squad leader) will receive Rank Points equivalent to the squad's total WP earned for the match, multiplied by some value determined by your Rank.
New players could be defined as some range of SP from the minimum amount of SP needed to graduate the academy (X SP) to 5,000,000 + X SP, for example.
I believe the benefits of this suggestion are threefold:
First, there is greater value placed in playing - instead of paying - your way to a higher loyalty rank than there is now Second, there is a greater incentive for vets to interact with new players, softening the skill curve and improving retention Third, It is "low hanging fruit" that could add significantly to NPE

I don't like the idea that you have to reach a certain loyalty rank to be able to create a training squad. I think sp or total war points would be a better metric.

Couldn't they be one and the same? Isn't there a certain amount of WP the corresponds to a particular rank?
I don't mind having a different metric, but could you elaborate on why Loyalty Rank would be a bad one?

If a new player bought $500 dollars worth of AUR he would be able to make a training squad without knowing anything about the game. On the other hand, free loaders who know the in and outs of the game might not be able to make a training squad.

I like the idea. But it should not add a whole lot of royalty rank points. I'm totally behind the notion that the loyalty rank system is more or less a gratuity for supporting the game by purchasing aurum.
In short, the bonuses are minut enough to negligible. But not something that should be sought after as a holy Grail of awesomeness, but more of a recognition of veterancy.
I want to help DUST become a better experience for everyone. Let's work together!

This would really reward players such as Fox Gaden and Kevin Lognstride for their hard work, and would actually make sense since helping new players improves player retention, meaning more AUR purchased in the long run.

While I think that those cases are fringe examples, you are right. And the system should be insulated against people like that, to preserve the NPE friendly nature of the suggestion. However, I would still argue for some tie to Loyalty Rank, because I think it is a unique metric that can help weed out people who AFK or are not as serious about DUST from those who sign in everyday and are more committed. That argument is on the basis that, because WP increases your rank, those who are consistently active will have higher ranks while those who might abuse the system would be found in the lower ranks.
I would suggest the following update to the system. You would be able to make a "Training Squad" if you have:
- A Loyalty Rank of X or above
- A Total WP or SP with value of Y or above
- A ratio of (Loyalty Rank) / (SP or WP) with value Z or above
Do you think that the combination of these three conditions would help keep the population of people who could use this feature relatively free from trolls? And in the bigger picture, do you think that this idea would add to DUST in a meaningful way?

I can agree with you on the fact that this system should not be the go-to strategy to increase your rank. However, there is a "market" for more efficient ways to improve your rank in ways other than Aurum. I think that this solution, with the right multiplier on how many points could be earned per match, could fill this market nicely. In addition, it would give more credibility to the Loyalty rank at large by discrediting the idea that it is a Pay to "Win" system
I understand that you cannot "Win" the Loyalty rank game, but I can imagine someone else thinking that the only way to be the "Best" is to pay Aurum

or just make aurum less important and make stats and time played count for me. with a consecutive daily login multiplyer. no one should have to spend 1000dollars to rank up.
thats honestly disgusting. it doesnt matter what game or platform it is. thats just too much.
if youve logged in every day for 10-25-50-100-200 days youll have a big boost to earning points in matches and such.

You get recruiter rewards at100,000 warpoints.
That is usually a sufficient indicator that your chosen newberry is at a level where they should fully understand how the game works. Enough to teach a new player.
That should be where training squad unlocks happen.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

The purpose of the loyalty rank system is to show your loyalty to CCP, though, not to anything else. It's an indicator of how much aurum you've bought.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.
