I gotta admit, from what Ive seen and heard with this game and EVE, the relationship between the players and CCP is very unpredictable. One day they are "hard working", the next day "lazy", then "understaffed" or "have alot of talented staff. After FanFest, alot of people had written them off as a faceless entity with custodianship of a derelict game. Essentially people figured they had given up.
Yet here were are months later, and we can start to see the results of the hard work CCP has been doing behind the scene. In the past they would drop whole game patches without taking time to fine tune the balance issues of the previous patch. Instead they would cram crazy nerfs or buffs or unbalanced new content into a patch and drop it. It looks like this time instead they sat down and laid out a long term strategy. Its working.
So whats so impossible about all this? The fact that inspite of all the hardship, they never took the easy way out and made this pay-to-win. They could have raised money by selling advantages. All they sell is early access. And not on that big of a scale. There are free-to-play games out there where you can charge 50$ and walk in and buy the equivalent of proto everything and go be on equal footing or better than the people who have played that game for years.
BPOs are cash user territory because the only advantage they provide is savings of ingame currency. Yet here they are giving them for free if you earn enough ingame currency. They cost 58,000AUR. Thats like 30$ CCP is willingly forfeiting just so that free users can be on the same footing as cash users. Whats even more remarkable is that they did it in a way that will encourage people to play a neglected game mode relentlessly. I cant wait to play as much FW as I can when I got the time.
The ironic part is im going to use my AUR Quafe BPO and my AUR Bundle suits (shock assault, ect) during this venture to keep my ISK spending to a minimum. Using AUR to make LP to buy a BPO to make ISK. Thats sounds like what New Eden is all about.

It's almost as if the forums are made up of a large swath of players from many nationalities, ages and economic status , some of which have proclivities to change their minds after a period of time. |
