I've actually seen a bunch of people dying to proxies in the killfeed but I don't think they've changed function.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Proxies do kill, same with AV grenades, same with swarms, they all just won't trigger on a human unless you find ways around it.
For swarms and AV, the pilot/unfortunate-redberry is directly in the path between you and the vehicle, and for proxies you just need to detonate it.
After all, back in the days of tougher LAVs (LLAVs to be exact), and sometimes rarely these days, you can kill the driver and leave the LAV still very much alive (though usually everely damaged ^^) if they run over proxies just right.
Also yes, I've seen a few idiot redberries stand on top of my proxies and shoot them and die as a result.

provies have like a 5m ot 6m blast radius or something so maybe you got caught in that? but for the love of CCP i hope they make it so they react to infantry too... i loved useing proxy mines in goldeneye and claymores in BF3

This is why flux grenades shouldn't be able to detonate PE's & RE's. That way there's a way to remove them without worrying about killing some blueberry that blindly runs by (not that I don't laugh every time they go flying).

People complain about equipment spam as it is. Making PE's into Claymores will just mean there's one around every corner and means every 5 minutes someone will be on here raging about "no risk & high" reward kills.

I have been killed by proxies quite a few times. All it takes is a vehicle driving near you or some one shooting it.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Do not stand on a live bomb just cause your suit will not detonate it. There are 15 other people doing things that could make it go boom.
We were on the map with 6 towers and A in the container 1 time and people had already been plugging it with an LAV. Once it was clear I move in for the hack along with a few squad mates. While hacking a friendly attempted to plug the container which resulted in a couple of proxies that were left in the container detonating, killing 3 of us plus vehicle and driver. Best proxy placement ever or dumbest move on our part for not fluxing thoroughly? |

This. It works even better in FW where even a friendly can shoot them.
I saw two greens die thanks to a Laser Rifle accidently hitting one. Haha, out of all things... a laser rifle... |
