So, personally, I believe that I know each and every map very well- except the new one, haven't played it enough- and I believe that through that I can confindently say this: The maps, Ashland, Line Harvest, Spine Crescent, Skim Junction, Iron Delta, Border Gulch, Impact Ridge, Fractured Road, basically everything except Manus Peak, all favor Close Quarters Combat (CQC) because multiple null cannon consoles are in tight, confined spaces.

So, why is it any surprise that the HMG and Shotgun are the most prolific killers in PC when every map favors CQC. These two weapons favor that close and personal fighting. Missiles, on the other hand have high rate of fire, are just Mass Driver rounds on steroids. Half the blast radius, twice the damage, and twice the rate of fire. Then there is the Six Kin Assault Combat Rifle. This is the second best thing to the HMG. Armor tanking is prolific. Those new slots on assaults? armor plates fill them in. With a profile that favors killing armored dropsuits, but not quite as good as the shotgun or HMG, it's the best Light Weapon to carry.
So, why are we so surprised that CQC weapons are performing better in CQC situations than ranged weapons? This baffles me. Instead of nerfing the effectiveness of a weapon that is just suited for the environment, why not change the environment to that nearly every single map no longer favors CQC?
blah, blah, blah. No new maps. Yet maps have been editited for 1.9.
It seriously confuses me as to why people are so desperate to nerf specialized weapons to perform worse in their specialized role. This only paves the way for all-purpose weapons to perform better at every role than the specialized ones.
A shotgun should be doing better than an AR, CR, RR, ScR in CQC. An HMG should be doing better than the AR, CR, RR, ScR in CQC The same way a Laser Rifle should be performing better at long range than a RR, ScR, CR, AR. The same way a Sniper Rifle should be performing better at anti-infantry than a forge gun in the extreme range
Don't even bother commenting on balance or functions of the game if you can't even go 1:1 KDR against me.
