Bolt Pistol does everything you need and more.
-Long range supression
-2 shots scouts or mlt suits
-**** ton of ammo so you don't NEED to carry nanohives.
-Scares off sentinels.
-Picks off low hp suits you have flanked before they can react
-Insane headshot bonus
-Tight hip-fire for emergency use in CQC
-Very hard for the enemy to detect where you are shooting from
-2 second reload
-Slow ROF means barely any recoil.
-Bonus damage to armor, but can pierce shields like a scrambler
I love my mass driver, but when it takes a clip and a half to take out a sentinel with a long reload, or at least 5 shots with a flux...and then you HAVE to carry nanohives because of it...
Scrambler is great for long-range support but it isn't deadly at all in the hands of a minmatar. The ammo capacity of a scrambler is pretty crazy too.
The bolt pistol is a combination of these two weapons. It's a scout killer and a long-range supporter. It has plenty of ammo and can crit for enough damage to make sentinels think twice. Best of all, a prototype variant only uses as much fitting space as an advanced light weapon, and still only costs like 20k isk! The advanced variant is just as good and makes fitting a logi SO much easier.
Funny thing is I never see these on the field at all. It wrecks everything except for the fast strafing assault suit.

Honestly, the combination of swarms / BP on an assault suit might not be that bad.

I either use BP or SMG except for my demolition fit. Sidearm logi FTW.

Idk if you just got here for 1.9, but prior to the update, the bolt pistol's cqc capability was severely nerfed (as it should be). The new update undid that rebalancing and i'm pretty sure they are going to reimpliment these fixes soon. |

As of 1.9 I have never been killed by one. Seen more breach SMG's, ion pistols, and nova knives than anything.

fitting good tank along with proto equipment isnt easy on a logi and a low requirement sidearm isnt a bad idea on logi actually, I used sidearm on logi since closed beta start.

I run ACR now with BP and I find that when ACR can't kill them the BP does the job even with the hotfix

With their nerf to charge up time, it became a sharpshooter's weapon.
Not everyone can use them to full effect, and I already figured out some pretty easy counters.
So go ahead.

Now im not sure if CCP got round to fixing the game back to hotfix delta specs but with 1.9 we lost the balancing related.
Also that is because the bolt pistol offers a lot for a sidearm. The alpha damage is pretty crazy. Pocket sniper is an accurate term for the damn thing.
