My right analogue stick started to do the shifty bit where it messes with the camera on it's own. The Ps3 is less than a year old, but it'll be 50 bucks to send it for service. Should I just buy a new one, or get a cheap version (i.e. 10$ controller).

You could by a new one for $50, so yes I would grab a new one. Not only will it look nicer, but it will also have a longer lifespan and you wouldn't have to wait for the repairs to finish.

well actually last night I had ran over it with a cotton swab and alcohol, it turns out there was random sticky stuff on the analogue stick. Now it works fine, but I will keep this in mind in case anything does happen.

Yeah i know and after i restarted playing dust i only use ds4, and also you can play dust with out wire
