If you've got a couple squads syncing FW or whatever it's all good in my opinion, but put them up there in a pub and 9/10 times it doesn't end well. I wish my avatar was Minmatar.

High enough off the ground that it isn't too easy for the enemy to get to while also being low enough that sitting on it is only slightly more advantageous than being on the ground; usually the uplink itself is in a spot that can't be shot at directly by enemy unless they're up there but the rest of the area doesn't offer too much cover. I also face away from the wall/corner or in the direction enemy would most likely be in or people would most likely want to go, unless both are towards a wall, so people don't have to waste time turning around.
