Unless you are a super damped scout you can forget about ever avoiding scans again. Active scanners light up huge areas and share scans with ENTIRE team. Nobody can sneak up on/ flank anybody without being seen. I just played a dom in a new socket, reds just encircled the objective and spammed the scanners. No blue could get anywhere near without an HMG greeting them.
So much for all the hard learned flanking tactics and map knowledge advantages. It would seem it's now perma wall hack 514.

Just theorizing here, but, these scanners are not our final scanners...
We will have 2 types:
Team Scanners- share info with your bluedots, weaker (precision, range, cool down, duration) Squad Scanners- share info with only your greens, stronger in comparison.
As far as I can tell, all current scanners are team based and have the same strength as they have had for awhile, thus, they are pretty dang strong.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.
Also, Raptors...

if you want to sacrifice hp.
an assault suit is a heavy assault cruiser. not an ewar platform. fit tank and dps or gimp yourself by forcing your suit into a role its not made for.
if you tried to do ewarfare with an hac in eve people would laugh at you. its a specialized role. not a versatile do it all suit. use it correctly, use it poorly and die, or dont use it at all.
sentinels are point defense like marauders. your not supposed to flank, your supposed to defend an area like a boss in darksouls.

As a gal logi I love it. Finally we Solos can help in an additional way. Never saw a good reason why it was squad only. Why would we not share intel with our team? Makes no sense.

There is a ton of work that still needs to be done on scanners:
1) It is basically crap outside of the gallente logi.
2) 200m 90 degree is insane
3) There is no reason for 90% of the scanners due to the dominance of a few

Yeah no flanking unless you dampened your suit hardcore, only scouts can flank. I like to flank as a min assault but i don't have the speed and use of the cloak to avoid detection now. Rollback the team scans until new scanners are released.

I like this thread---kudos to the author!
I am a beliver in Scouts invisibility versus general-scanners ALWAYS being a tight thin line that's easy to fall to one side or the other. The technology of "Stealth or Dampening" should be effective enough that it players can defeat general scanning,...but the technology of "Scanning" should always push up its game so that only Scout-players can succeed in fully escaping it once boosted scanning is used.
I think I saw something about Rattati wanting to introduce better scanners ONLY as the 1st stage of improvements----and the 2nd stage was to eventually make players choose if they want to buy the scanner that shares with squad-only or with team (2 brands of scanner on the Market).
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

The scans are kind of much but I do like the fact the cloak is no longer an` "I win" type of thing. I was getting really tired of getting killed by cloaked shotguns. Cloak is still effective but now requires more skill to use.

Scanners have always shared its results with the team so long as I remember. The only change this patch did was reward those scanning with wps from outside the squad kills. |

The difference is before, only your squad could see your active scans but now the whole team can. Basically if one person has a scanner, your whole team can know where everyone is. Its nice when you get kills but sucks when you"re trying to be sneaky sneaky.

Tbh scanners have been in a bad place since the last nerf. Scouts still only have to worry about 1 scanner, on 1 suit. These changes really havent helped scanners much. Scouts will still dominate matches.
I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.

Yup. We all know scouts learning tactics is a myth. Being a scout is the easiest thing to do (except when your me and you specced into a scout solely to fight scouts and snipers that were screwing with the game just like scouts during the time, and you had your skill bonuses horribly butchered for no reason. You only have a basic cloak which was made useless to scouts too, so then you have to forge yourself into a no-cloak team supporting badass just to survive and get some decent amounts of SP) |
