Yep, I always re-install the game before a big update. Always helps give me an edge :-P

That's the same story for the EVE Online client installer. Package was about 12gb, now under 6gb. Someone has got their **** together at CCP.

better file compression? deleted a ton of useless assets? both?

Did this last week and while the game seems to run about the same sort of speed, the menus and maybe even loading is much faster and snappier.

I did that a week ago, it went from 2.9GB down to 2.3. Certainly helped a bit with lag, as well as freezing.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

I think it speaks to the nature of CCP and this community that my natural inclination is to not trust this thread.

There was a similar thread recently. Some people reported the file size of the client dropping from almost 6 gig down to 3 gig after reinstalling. That's a lot of temp files.
The slow blade penetrates the shield.
